Best of luck, SCSimmons.
I’ve got a ‘plain’ (no body mass, heartrate, etc., just weight) digital scale from Weight Watchers. It’s available pretty much at any big box store and is the most accurate I’ve ever had.
I’m in. Last year, started at 208. Highest ever was 228 (when preggo).
I am currently down to 170. Plan to get to 150 next. Additional goal, eliminate, or at least significantly reduce, C-section pooch.
When you figure out how to do that without surgery, patent it and you’ll never have to work another day for the rest of your life!
HA! According to Denise Austin, I only need 6 weeks. http://www.deniseaustinvideo.com/denv127.html.
Wait… I looked at this and it says 3 weeks! In the video she says 6 weeks. Wonder which one’s lying.
Just recovering from a post-christmas bout of sinusitis, and I netted a loss over the holidays! 1.4 lbs lost since friday Dec. 23rd, making my total loss since I started at the beginning of November 12 lbs!
I was hoping to simply not gain over the holidays, but I still lost! That makes me happy.
I will start using my brand new gym membership once my sinuses have drained, as currently going up the stairs makes me cough. It’s getting annoying.
Thanks Jim and Boggette. I’ll look this weekend since I won’t see a scale until next Friday.
Well, I didn’t gain anything over the holidays (luckily, traditional Japanese New Year’s food is pretty uniformly repulsive, IMO). I also haven’t done the riding I wanted to do as there’s been things to do (important and unimportant) each day and a cold to recover from. I did make an appointment to get a full head-to-toe fitting for the new road bike I wanted to buy, so that’s something to look forward to and will hopefully spur me to keep on riding. Tomorrow is rainy, but I’m making a pledge in front of all of you to hit the bike trails Sunday and Monday.
So, I was right, it was water weight since I’m now at my pre-Christmas lowest weight. 4 days AFTER my official first weigh-in of the year. Nice.
I just found out that a bourbon and diet coke has between 75 and 100 calories. Jeez.
Well, headed to the gym to finish out my first week.
I am also getting lots of exercise wearing out a path from my desk to the bathroom as I consume a gallon of water a day.
Will weigh in later!
In retrospect, I’m fairly sure I underestimated my starting weight (that was pre-holidays). But since I don’t even know if we own a scale, I guess I’m stuck with it.
I worked out today (today was weight machine day) and it went well. But my eating today has been completely horrible. Just one of those days, I guess. The only thing keeping me from despair is that I got my ass out of bed at 5 this morning and went to the gym. Despair is what makes me throw up my hands and say, “I’ll start again next Monday!” No, I’ll start again at my next meal. I worked out and I can kick some ass. Well, very little ass. But I can kick it!
I’m really digging my pedometer as it’s enticing me to walk more. Wednesday was my best day ever with 18000+ steps. Yesterday I barely cleared 12000 but today I took the longer morning walk and I’m already at 12774.
According to the web site that supports the Pedometer (I upload my steps every night, the site keeps track and actually pays me actual cash for the “miles” I earn) weight loss can be accomplished by averaging 10000 steps a day and modifying the diet or by averaging 20000 steps a day without diet modification. I haven’t hit the 20000 mark yet. That’s proving challenging. I walked 3.8 miles this morning, made the .5 mile trip around the office park 3 times today and still I’m only up to 12774. 20000 is one helluva lot of walking.
I’m patiently waiting for the pounds to start must “melting off”. Could happen, right?
Today I weigh 179 oh well. No melting yet.
I hesitated joining this thread because I wasn’t sure if I belonged in here. Most of you have been at this a while and seem to be doing very well.
I had the band put in on 8/1/05, and lost and gained and lost and gained the same 5 pounds over and over again for over a year, then thru Oct and Nov I put on another 10. In Dec, I read myself the riot act, and made the financial commitment to NutriSystem. I ordered it so the packages would arrive before New Years so that I could start on Jan 1 with no excuses. And I did. So far I’ve lost 6 pounds. So I will report to this thread, good or nad, because accountability is a good thing.
This morning, I FINALLY hit eighty pounds down from my starting weight. So, that’s 130 pounds lost total, adding in my pregnancy 50.
6jan07 = 143#
I’m really hoping it’s water weight.
I weighed in this morning, and I’ve lost the weight I gained over Christmas!!!
Current weight is 172.8 pounds, total weight loss to date is 33.8 pounds. So, 22 pounds still to go to my official goal weight, 27 to my unofficial goal weight.
I’d like to join in. I’ve been doing Weight Watchers with Mr. Cee since May. I’ve lost twenty-eight pounds, he has lost 32. We’ve both been on something of a plateau for a few weeks. But I’ve recently started taking advantage of the exercise equipment we have in the house (exercise bike and treadmill) and have been doing a 40 minute workout at least 4 days a week combining the two. I hope that’ll get things moving again.
Female, age 46, height 5’6"
Starting weight: 206
Current weight: 178
Goal: 148.
This is a personal goal. My official WW goal is 155, which is a weight I think I can maintain realistically (I hovered around that point for years, before I started gaining). However, I really want to weigh less than 150. It’s just a psychological thing.
I hear you on that one. That’s why my official goal weight is 150, and my unofficial one is 145.
Update:
3# down.
I can’t run (bad knees and I get shin splints very easily), but I’ve walked at least 2 miles every day on the treadmill before breakfast, and have been moving back to a low-refined carbohydrate diet. We’ll see if I can keep that up when winter term starts, because I don’t like getting up at 5:45.
