2007 Weight Loss Club, July

So we should! Hubby got a new camera for Christmas. I’m sure he’d be glad to make use of it by getting a shot of us!

Wow, Norinew, that is impressive! I marvel at the changes 35 pounds or so have made in my body, I can’t imagine how great you must feel losing 100+ pounds (not sure how much exactly?).

I noticed something today - it was raining hard, and my friend and I had to make a run for her car when we came out of a restaurant. It was only about a block and a half, but I was really surprised when we got into the car after our little sprint and I wasn’t short of breath at all. SHE was huffing and puffing, and she weighs much less than me (at least 20 pounds).

Sometimes I lose sight of the fact that all this working out and eating better is ultimately for my health, and not just for the number on the scale or a new pair of jeans. I know I’m in much better shape that I used to be, and even if I don’t lose anything, I should feel good about that. It’s not always easy to think of all that when you look in the mirror though.

Absolutely! Your pictures are inspirational too! I may have to do something similar soon.

I worked late on Wed so I missed my workout. I did the workout last night and for the first time in a long time had a really bad workout. I struggled with the weights and didn’t come away feeling satisfied. At least the aerobic work out went well.

I’m in. I used to have the picture perfect body, but gradschool took its toll. I weighed in this morning at 235 lbs. I have to lose 45 lbs. I went running today for the second time. I can’t run a full mile (I live around some nasty hills though.) At this point I’m hoping that my reduced alcohol consumption, slightly reduced calorie diet, and excercise will get me back to where I should be. My wife runs half-marathons so I expect that she will be on my tail. At this point, I am so heavy that I have developed health issues. This much weight is very uncomfortable. I have to lose weight.

Welcome to the club Christopher. Good luck losing!

I am bumping this thread, with good news. I lost 7.6 lbs this past week! Wheeeeeee!

This brings my weight to 290 lbs, with a total loss of 93.6 lbs so far. I have also reached another benchmark. I am now official past the halfway point to my WW weight loss goal weight!

supervenusfreak, that’s super *and *freaky, you goddess you!

(Sorry, I had to.)

But seriously - 7.6 pounds?! Did you wake up without a foot or something? That’s a whole lot to drop at once, isn’t it?

Congratulations!

He’d better not be a goddess! I’d have to sue for false advertising…

um…

I’m staying out of this!

(sorry, svf! My bad.)

Thank you WhyNot!

LOL. I know. This seems to be a bit of a pattern for me. I have a rather large weight loss one week, and a small loss or tiny gain the next. Part of it may actually be water weight too. It all evens out in the end.

BTW I am an outtie not an innie… Happy Anniversary baby!

Congratulations, SVF, on the loss and the anniversary. It’s our anniversary this weekend too, although it’s not a Pride thing, the actual date of our marriage was July 27/02.

SUPERVENUSFREAK congrats on that huge loss. I find that never happens to me anymore. The most I can ever expect to lose in a week is maybe 2 pounds.

I lost another 1/2 so I’m 167. I need to be at 164 for my “official” goal weight at Weight Watchers. However, I would love to be around 155-157. I NEVER see this happening with the way this is dripping off.

I think I need to up the intensity of my workouts. It seems that during part of my cardio, I’m not breathing that hard. My body just got too darn efficient! And when I run, my legs give out way before my lungs. I guess that’s good in a way?

Anyway, I’m off to the gym. Have a great Sunday everyone.

Congratulations,** SVF!** And to Norinew for being so close to her 100 pound mark!

Been bouncing around the 164-165 range the last few days. There seems to be a pattern here and, based on past performance, I probably won’t lose any significant poundage for another week or so. Oh well, I can console myself with the fact that I’m a definite size 16 now. No more trying to figure if Brand X or Y pants are a 16 or an 18 on me any more. Yay!

Happy Anniversary Ginger! . You and your hubby are wonderful people.

Thank you Cattitude and Tikki. This was an unusually large weight loss for me too. Most weeks it is in the 1-2 pound range, which is pretty normal.

It sounds like you are on the right track Cattitude. Increasing the intensity and even the variety of your workout should help you reach goal weight soon. I have alot left to lose here and have learned from others that the closer I get, the more work it will take.

I have a question - I’m around 165 now too, and I’m having a lot of trouble with sizes. Sometimes I take a 14, sometimes 12, I even have a few 10’s (and god, I love buying a 10 when I can!). Is there any hard and fast correlation between weight and size, or does it depend on build, etc? Also, is there a certain number of pounds that you need to use to move down a size?

I realize that there isn’t like a scientific formula or anything, but anyone have any insight?

Having gone from a size 24-26 (but as low as 20 in some things) to a 14 (but sometimes 10, sometimes 16), I will weigh in with NO. There really isn’t. Everyone’s fat/muscle is distributed differently; muscle takes up less space than fat, so a super-toned 165 will be a 10 while a flabby one could be in a 16.

I’m back on the wagon!

Since I went on hiatus at the end of April, I’ve gotten a job, bought a house, moved to a new state, and on Wednesday I’ll be starting the new job. Um yeah, I’ve been a tiny bit stressed!

I weighed 170 at the end of April, down from 180. This morning, I weighed 174. Two of those pounds went on right away when I stopped doing Core, the other two snuck up on me during my move. Now I’m in my house and have my kitchen unpacked, and I’m ready to get started again!

So: my name is Sattua and I weigh 174 pounds. I’ll be following the Weight Watchers Core program like I did before. And I’m off!

Thanks for the kind words, but I’ve actually lost almost 140lbs. now, so passed the 100lb mark some time ago!

supervenusfreak, way to go! By the time I see you again, I won’t recognize you!

Sattua, welcome back to The Wagon!

Welcome back Sattua! Hopefully things will go well for you. Being another Corebie, I have been hanging around the Core message boards on the WW site. I have found it to be very helpful when it comes to questions and recipes.

Hehehe Norinew. I am hoping to get closer to the same mark that you have reached in time for the next Gettydope. Congratulations!
