2007 Weight Loss Club, March

You need to build your strength up! Howzabout I come over and make waffles and pancakes, and fry up some pork sausage…?

No?

Damn. I wanted some.

You do house calls?!?!? Can we have bacon instead of sausage, and throw some eggs in there, so I can get enough protein? If so, I’ll see you tomorrow morning about 9ish. I’ll make the coffee.

Bumpity bump. No reason for this thread to die.

Third day at 173.5.

176, and that’s with being bloated. I just might make my goal of 175 by April 6 after all.

My husband actually asked me to go for a walk for the second night in a row last night. That makes me very happy, because he needs to lose about 25 pounds too and is having back problems as a result (he carries it all in front). If all goes well, we should be buying new mountain bikes this week so we’re excited about that.

Don’t you love it when your new low number sticks around for a few days? That always tells me it wasn’t a fluke but that I really am inching downward. So…way to go Ginger on your third day with a new number. I’m on my second day at 172.5 so I’m happy about that.

I did manage to get in my 20K steps yesterday so I’ve moved up to 170th place in the challenge. Still not enough to win a prize but I’m working at it.

yellowval I don’t see any reason you won’t make 175 by April 6. Just keep doing what you’re doing.

When does the contest end, velvet? Any cool prizes you’re aiming for?

Gingy and yellowval, yay!! Standing ovation!

Some good news on my weight loss front today: I was in the store, looking for a particular color of top to go with a specific pair of pants generously donated to me by Gingy, and I found just the right one; it was even on sale. I ended up getting it in a 16W. W00t. When was the last time I was a size 16W, you might ask? The answer would be nevah!

Yay, norine! That’s really awesome. (And it was on sale! I love that.) You should post some pictures again soon so we can be in awe of your progress.

I am now going to reveal my computer ignorance to you folks: I had my hubby take some pictures weekend before last. He took them, uploaded them to the 'puter, and now I can’t find where he uploaded them to, so I can’t add them to my picturetrail album! I am considering putting on said pants, and said new top, and having EtherealFreakOfPinkness snap a couple of pics that I can upload where I can find them!

Thanks for asking. 6 more days until the contest is over. The winner gets $150, the second and third place get some smaller amount but after that 4th - 150th get $25.

Right now I’m in 149th place but I only got about 4 hours of sleep last night so I didn’t get up for my walk this morning which means that I won’t get many steps in today because I have an early gig. I’m hoping I can make up for that by walking like a maniac over the weekend and thus maintain my pace in the top 150. We’ll see.

According to Virgin Life Care you need 10000 steps a day plus dietary changes to achieve weight loss. 20000 steps a day with no dietary changes. I’ve been getting between 18000 and 22000 steps about 4 days a week which I’m sure is why I’ve been seeing my numbers creep down.

This morning I weighed in at 171.5

Anyone know what that translates to in miles? I’ve been doing the Leslie Sansone thing, and I often walk 1, 2, or 3 miles without ever leaving my living room. I know that is so many steps in so many minutes at a certain tempo, but I’ve never done the math.

My morning walk is between 4 and 5 miles and ends up being just shy of 10000 steps but YMMV (couldn’t resist). I vary my route quite a bit and I’ve been shooting for a specific number of steps rather than miles which is why I’m not sure of the distance. But if it helps, right now my pedometer reads 2428 steps and 1.148 miles. I have my step length calculated at 30". The pedometer calulates mileage by step length x number of steps.

Ah, thanks! I’ll have to work on that a little later (right now, my living room is screaming at me to come clean it!)

Wow, that’s pretty far! After a three-mile walk I’m pretty tired. (In my defense, it’s not a leisurely stroll, but a real workout. I work up a good sweat.)

But MMMV, indeed. I take precisely the same number of steps as the people in the Sansone videos. Since it’s safe to assume that most of them are shorter than I, I must cover more ground but get no better workout.

But from your answer I’ll guess that 1 mile is around 2500 steps.

What is a step, anyway? Is it when just your left foot hits the ground, or when either does?

Well hang it all. 241.0 this week. That’s up 1.6 from last week. But I’ve been drinking a lot of water today, and I’m still down 2.0 from the week before, so I’m not fretting about it.

Much. I’m going back tomorrow for a second opinion.

I was so disappointed!! :frowning: I was all dressed to exercise the other day and the 3 mile walk was gone.

I sent for the 5 mile with weights but haven’t gotten the tape yet.

Yeah, and it seems all they have left is the wimpy one mile walk for the Extremely Elderly. Doing it three times seems counter productive.

I have to say tdn that my somewhat ridiculous goal of getting 10000 steps in my morning walk has been a challenge (but of course I’m participating in a “challenge” so that’s what this is about, right?) The morning walk takes me 1 hour and fifteen minutes if I’m moving at a good pace. My alarm goes off at 5:30, I’m out of the house by 5:45 and back home by 7:00 depending on whether or not I extend the walk to go by Einsteins for coffee. I’m always surprised at how many people are out there walking or jogging in the pre-dawn hours.

I’m lucky that the weather here has been really nice and allowed me to walk as much as I want out doors. Soon, it’ll be too hot to take walks around the parking lot at work and I’ll be confined to my morning and evening walks with the proper clothing and lots of sweating.

I’ve updated my picturetrail account, for anyone who’s interested.
