2007 Weight Loss Club, March

Way to go Ginger! I’m very happy for you! Tikki too! That’s darned impressive.

Something I’ve just realized… I have dimples (slight, but certainly there). Never noticed them before under the fat.

That’s a questionable strategy. Yeah, hair does have weight, but you might look kind of odd bald.

Ya think? I’m sure my head is lovely.

So I had certainly expected a 2-pound rebound as is my wont, but only up to 175 this morning. And, this is after a St. Patrick’s night out at a pub.

After three months, I’m just 1kg less than I was at the start of the year, but I guess that’s not entirely bad.

Anyway, my custom-fit road bike has finally arrived and I’m itching to break it in and start riding to work now that the weather is getting warmer. Wednesday is a holiday, so I’ll be taking it for a long ride by the river.

Starting weight: 88kg
Current weight: 87kg
Goal: 75kg, but happy with anything under 80kg.

I’m not quite sure, but when I looked in the mirror this morning, I looked – dare I say it? – merely obese, as opposed to morbidly obese.

You sexy thang!

Sounds like what I do while on vacation! I don’t stick to a plan, just try to make good choices most of the time, indulge in the things I really want, and try not to stuff myself.

I mean, it’s vacation! The food is half the fun, especially when you’re in a gastronomical wonderland like NYC.

Woo hoo!

Congrats, Ginger!

Useless weight loss tip of the day: if you manage to contract a serious staph infection, your unconsciousness and loss of appetite can lead to rapid weight loss! Plays hell with your exercise regimen, though … :frowning:

Back to the doctor today … On the plus side, when I first checked in with him on Thursday, my blood pressure was evidently back in the ‘normal’ range.

The nurse also commented on how much less I weighed compared to the measurements on my chart from last year. I told her that I’d found a revolutionary new weight loss program called ‘Eat Less and Get Some Exercise’. She seemed amused.

tdn How you doin’?

Sublight Do update us on how your first ride on the new bike is.

I’m back up to 175 this morning after three days of not so much walking and a bit more eating.

But if I average I’m still losing so I’m cool with that.

SCSimmons, I, too, have done the “radical illness that does not allow you to consume and/or retain foods” diet. The weight loss is quick, but it’s no fun! Not only does it screw with your exercise regimen, it screws with your metabolism, too!

Hope you’re feeling 100% again soon!

Hot and steely.

This morning I told a bariatric nurse of my loss, and she told me “32 lbs-you are a man of steel never mind hotness!!”

In the ensuing e-mail exchange, we – Huh, is it wrong to blatently flirt with a married coworker?

This morning, I am at 175! I’m so tickled I can hardly contain it. When I am at 173, I can try to wear jeans again.

Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeehappy

Congratulations to everyone else. What happened to Supervenusfreak and JayJay?

The weather forced us to skip our meeting this week (the car didn’t get dug out on Saturday until a good 5 hours after the meeting), so I have no idea what I did.

Wow! May that staph be gone and never return! I got it as a kid after a leg operation. They stuck me in an isolation room all by myself for over a month. That was in the '60’s. I’m sure they can control it better and faster nowadays. Good health to you!

Way to go! Woohoo!

239.4! W00t!

That’s a loss of 3.6 since last week, or 5.7 from two weeks ago, or 35.6 from a year ago.

Yesterday a woman who I probably should have recognized stopped me in the hall to ask if I’d lost weight. She told me I look great.

And while I can’t see or feel a difference, I find that now I must be extra careful to tighten my belt, otherwise my snug pants tend to want to come off.

Way to go Sattua! Have fun jeans shopping.

tdn hot and steely? Pants coming off? what kind of thread is this exactly? It is nice to noticed, isn’t it?

Today I’m 172 which is just fine. I’m probably not going to make my goal of being in the 160s by this Friday but, it could happen. 169.5 is only 2.5 lbs away.

My band’s second CD is finally ready and Friday we’re doing a concert at a local park that we’re calling our unofficial CD release party. I’ll probably see some folks I haven’t seen in a while and I wanted to be… if not svelte then svelter.

Any kind you want it to be, babe.

It sure is. She was the only person who has said anything to me. I think that the people I see every day tend not to notice the gradual changes.

They will, but it will be all of a sudden. And in my case, I was asked if I had cancer. Sheesh! :smack:

I know March is almost over, but can I come join in here, too? Reading about everyone’s successes has gotten me pumped :D.

I actually started last Monday eating well. I’m doing sort of a modified Atkins - basically, I NEED to eliminate sugars and white flours from my diet for reasons other than weight loss, and the induction phase of Atkins is a great way to start that. I tend to eat more lean meats and less fat, so it’s probably closer to South Beach, but I eat foods only on the Atkins’ induction list.

Over a week, and aside from a bout with strep throat over the weekend through Monday where I was eating mostly broth, I’ve been doing really well. I’m down about 5 lbs so far, although I’m not keeping a very strict count.

I’d like to lose about 60 lbs altogether, some baby weight, some pre-baby weight. I’ve been successful on WW before, and still think it’s a fantastic program, but I need something stricter - I seem to do better when I’m a lot more strict with myself.
