Another year, another Pro Bowl, and probably the best chance for fans to say “WTF?”
Who the hell decided that Brett Favre deserved a spot? He’s not the third best quarterback in the AFC. Hell, he’s only the third best quarterback in his own DIVISION. Philip Rivers is a giant douche, yes, but in what universe has Brett Favre had a better year than him? Not to mention Matt Cassell and Chad Pennington, the two quarterbacks in Brett’s division who are better than him and deserved the spot more. If there’s anyone on earth who does not deserve a lifetime achievement award this year, it’s Brett Favre. He should be playing backyard football in his Wranglers in Louisiana right now, not quarterbacking in the NFL. This is just going to get him to stay in the league for another year. Please, don’t encourage him. Allow him to go gently into that good night. Just because your name is in the media constantly does not mean you’re a good quarterback.
I leave the Brett Favre rant with my favorite quote ever about him, from DJ Gallo a couple of years ago on ESPN’s Page 2:
And then there’s Le’Ron McClain. YOU ARE NOT EVEN THE BEST FULLBACK ON YOUR OWN TEAM! How the hell did this guy make the Pro Bowl ahead of the guy who blocks for him, Lorenzo Neal? Ask Ladainian Tomlinson who deserves to go to the Pro Bowl more. I’d imagine he’d agree with me.
There are more snubs out there, like Steve Slaton (Ronnie Brown, selected ahead of him, had exactly ONE amazing game and a bunch of okay ones), and John Abraham, but it’s hard to say who should have sat in his place. But Brett Favre and Le’Ron McClain only belong in Hawaii if they’re going on a nice post-season cruise vacation.
