Good luck Favre, and good luck Packers!
Oh dear.
The timing of this announcement couldn’t be worse - now the pundits and announcers only have six months to decide whose ass to kiss all year.
I haven’t heard it from Favre yet. I won’t believe it til I do.
WOO HOO!!!
It’s about time. Don’t let the doorknob hit you in the ass, Brett.
How fitting that the last throw of his career was a game losing interception in a Conference Championship game his team was supposed to win. I’m very happy that that play is the one that he and Packers fans will always have to live with – that he left the field for the last (but far from the first) time as a team killing choke artist.
Buh BYE, Brett. I can’t wait to see Aaron Rogers.
DtC, Packer hating Vikings fan.
I REALLY hope his leaving has nothing to do with Moss. The irony would burn.
Huh? Now Tom Brady can have 100% of his ass kissed instead of 95%.
I aint a Packer fan,but I woulda liked to have seen Favre play another year.
FOX is reporting that Favre told McCarthy that he was retiring. ESPN is running with the story.
Fox, ESPN and the Sporting News are all reporting it. There seems to be confirmation both from Favre’s agent and his brother. I think the chances are slim that those sources would be lying or mistaken.
I just heard on a local sports radio station that Favre had said he would only keep playing if the Packers signed Randy Moss. They didn’t. He split.
SI just added it as a breaking news item.
I’ll miss watching him play, despite being a conference opponent. His endurance was nothing short of incredible and his innovation in the pocket a marvel to behold. Yeah, too many interceptions but his last year was a fine one, he obviously had a great time, and it’s fitting he go out on such a good note. One helluva competitor! Good luck, Brett.
Even before I became a football fan, I hated the Packers. Over the past few years, however, I developed a good bit of respect for Favre and the team.
I say good luck to you, Brett. Thanks for being a great competitor.
Oh, and thanks for tossing that final pick, helping to send my Giants to the Super Bowl.
Hey, I’m going to stay happily in denial until the first game that Favre doesn’t start.
At least I’ll sleep well knowing that his retirement won’t make the Vikings suck any less.
Confirmation from the Packers official website
I think that pretty much nails it down.
Aaron Rodgers must be doing cartwheels.
At long last the annual “will he or won’t he” routine is over.
I feel very bad for whoever starts as QB next season.
So, does he go to the studio, booth, or neither?
Why didn’t Elway go into broadcasting?
Say hello to the Chicago Bears 2008 NFC North Division Champions! Adios Brett!
Busy with business and arena league football teams.
We all know Favre is going to retire…eventually. The question is when. Is this ‘for real’, or is this just a ‘test’ retirement?
With Rex Grossman still at QB and with your best receiver now playing for us? I don’t think so. It’s All Day Adrian Peterson and the Vikings FTW this year, dawg!
