Favre to retire.

His loitering has made it difficult for the Packers to build for the future. Now they can start to plan ahead rather than a season at a time.

Nah. I’m picking the Lions.

BWHA HA!

Not really.

If you think that you guys can do something with Berrien be my guest. Adrian Peterson OTOH will be a major impediment to our division victory but we’ll stop him. This time. :stuck_out_tongue:

The 2008 NFC North might be the first division that nobody wins.

As a Packer fan, it’s going to be weird seeing an injury report listing GB’s QB as “out”.

Peyton and Brady are the annointed ones. I think Eli will be joining this list after last year. Also, Romo will continue to be the second coming as long as he’s dating celebrities.

sad face

Yes, and the same for him as quarterback.

I was going to say that I thought the improvement of the Vikings was a major factor in him leaving. But screw that.

Bye Brett - anyone who wasn’t totally blind or deluded will at least admit you made the game fun to watch (with the commentary turned off a lot of the time).

Villa, Bears hating Packers fan who can’t summon the energy to hate the Vikings. Still, I guess they need a rival, even if that rival doesn’t care about them.

I’d say this just about guarantees a playoff spot for the Lions.

happy face!

Are you serious? the Packers have done nothing in free agency, they have built through the draft and have one of the youngest teams in the NFL. They still have plenty of skill on the team and a QB, who hopefully can come in and take the reins with some confidence. Thye were 13-3 last year and took the evenutal Super Bowl champs to OT in the NFC Championship with a ton of the team coming back. Yes, of course Favre is the most important piece, but this team is not doomed for the near future at all. I predict a 10-6 season.

Rodgers played quite well in the 2nd half against the Cowboys in his only real action last year, almost pulling the team out of the hole Favre dug the team into. My only real worry is his fragility. In 2006 Rodgers came in to a game while Brett got injured and promptly suffered a season-ending foot injury. This year, Rodgers pulled a hammy in practice the week after the Cowboys game (when Favre’s status was unclear and he was getting the starter’s portion of the snaps in practice) and spent the following few games on the OUT column of the injury report. Of course, compared to Favre, almost any quarterback other than Manning looks fragile.

Or the Vikings…mebbe even the Packers.

Last place is locked up tho.

Laughed out loud at this.

When did All Day announce he was switching to QB?

…and not playing a playoff game.

frowny face again

I was sure he’d come back next year, so I’m surprised. He ws a very entertaining player and a great quarterback, although the commentator love got so overbearing at the end that it was hard to take. When that dies down in two or three years, he’ll be missed.

You didn’t finish that last sentence. That’s “…team killing choke artist, with a Super Bowl ring”. How many Lombardi Trophies do the Vikings have, again? And you have the stones to call Favre and the Packers choke artists?

There are times when you say things that are utterly incomprehensible, things that demonstrate serious delusions, like this:

…but I do have to give you credit for having the gall to say things that are so patently ridiculous. Not many do.

[Tony Kornheiser calling a MNF game between the Packers and someone else in 2008]

You know, watching this game has really reminded me of Brett Favre. Remember how much fun he used to have when he was playing? It was almost like he was a kid again, just out in the backyard, throwing the football around, having a good time. It’s so hard to believe that we’re not going to get to see him play anymore, because he always seemed to have such a good time out there…
