2008 Presidential Election Results Thread. See it here as they come in.

Holy crap. CNN’s showing NC split almost down the middle with 81% of precincts reporting. Less than 200 votes difference.

Edit: Oh, well it just updated to about 2000 votes of difference in McCain’s favor. Oh well.

To whoever was asking earlier why 538 has three little squares in Nebraska on its maps, it’s because Nebraska splits its electors. Maine does too.

In my lifetime. Wow is right.

It means nothing. You just saw what you wanted to see. I’ve been flipping back and forth between MSNBC and FOX, and FOX is almost as pessimistic for McCain as MSNBC is.

Think about it. What possible reason could they have to try and make their election predicting ability look faulty? Especially this late in the game.

Hey, Sam Stone is missing the party. He’s probably the most active participant in the pre-election threads…

Actually, we’re about to elect an interracial President, which is perhaps even more impressive considering that anti-miscegenation laws remained on some states’ books even after segregation ended.

Agreed… Fox were actually calling a couple of states for Obama early on before anyone else did. They’ve been very balanced tonight, numbers-wise. Some of their commentators have said really, really dumb things, but their objective analysis has been good.

Those of you who are in a geeky mood can check the county-by-county returns from ,say, Florida on CNNand compare them with the 2004 results.

I have looked at a few counties and things are looking very good for Obama. For example Orange County which split 50-50 last time is 59-41 for Obama. Wouldn’t be too surprised if Florida is called soon.

Obama only needs 63 more electoral votes to go. Keep your fingers crossed, guys!

I’m finally excited. For once in Presidential election I feel a real sense of history in the making.

Although I would never gloat, I have to feel that we are in part seeing some sort of referendum on the politics of negativism. Perhaps the next election cycle will focus more on what binds us all together in this country, and on the issues rather than bogus claims about one candidate or another’s presumed character.

Ahhh, who am I kidding?

:smack:

And my city looks SO good on TV. The crowd is well behaved and very diverse.

I loves me Windy City!

I can’t believe that LA went McCain–Katrina and its “treatment” meant nothing?

CNN now reporting that McCain aides have confirmed no path to victory.

The ruling was that since his crime was not one of “moral turpitude”, that he can vote.

Maybe, I really only watched for about 15 seconds, but I took it as Fox putting making it seem closer than it is.

Corruption and taking bribes don’t count? Wow.

I am seriously wondering if the networks are holding off on some of these final calls until the polls on the west coast close.

Perhaps after the hour, they will all go bing, bing, bing.

And it’s 4:30 here. I watched all the debates live and now I watch this whole thing.

I hope that Bricker didn’t prepay the ad companies…

Sooo when does Obama go on in Chicago>?

Okay, the bishop on MSNBC almost made me cry. I didn’t catch his name.
