2008 Presidential Election Results Thread. See it here as they come in.

Did anyone see Jesse Jackson crying? That almost made me cry too.

Next question on my mind: Prop 8 in California.

Well, I hope it was a wise decision. I’m a Bob Barr-barian, so I new it wasn’t going to be a happy night, from the beginning. Obama, play it safe, take it slow. Nothing too drastic, O.K.? Except for 100% troop withdraw.

Damn, McCain. This is one hell of a concession speech.

Only places outstanding lean Dem.

McCain is being the good McCain again.

All I have to say is this…
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

So, there was still a good man in there all along. Bravo, Senator McCain.

Very gracious concession, very graceful.

McMain tapped out clean. He’s going out with honor.

Pity a section of the crowd isn’t following his lead.

Shut up, crowd.

To hell with McCain. His concession speech is the EXACT opposite of the campaign he ran. I give him no credit for grace in defeat. (Nor his scum bag supporters there booing)

“The USA can always be counted upon to do the right thing … after exhausting all other alternatives” - Winston Churchill

I have hope in my heart for the world and for the USA for the first time in 5 years. I feel like I did late last year when my own people finally saw sense and terminated John Howard’s toxic administration.

I am so glad. Well done America; you have every right to feel nervous about what you’ve just done, but also every right to feel hopeful and uplifted. This is a brave step out of the shadows and the first stride on a journey back to moral leadership of the free world. Americans have been famous for their can-do attitude for a long time, but now you must and will turn from each person striving to enrich themselves alone, to each person striving to enrich their nation and their world. You can tackle your public health, public education, climate change, defense, and other serious issues, in just the way you tackled issues such as nazism, fascist communism, and now racism.

I unreservedly congratulate you on the path you have chosen. No matter how things turn out over the next 8 years, you have done a courageous, forward-looking, outward-looking, and above all right thing. Long live America.

McCain’s blaming himself for the loss - not his supporters.

Very classy speech, John. Thank you for your service to this country, Mr. McCain.

You’re welcome!

I’m watching Mc Cain’s speech. He displays a lot of dignity, in his words as well as in his attitude.

This is the McCain we SHOULD have seen on the campaign and didn’t. He is going out gracious and dignified. Well done. I applaud him.

His speech is beautiful. I like this side of McCain and I hope some of his followers follow his lead.
