I personally think he’s more than a little relieved. I’m not entirely sure he was completely in charge of his own campaign, and I think he was probably more than a little uncomfortable with what it was becoming. Now, he can go back to the Senate and polish his legacy there. And probably work to torpedo Palin’s 2012 possibility…God knows there’s probably not a lot of love lost there at this point.
I think McCain’s speech is 1000x more graceful than his entire campaign. Can’t believe he gave in to the morons who ran his campaign-starting with the boneheaded pick of Palin. I genuinely believe this election was his to lose and he lost it by giving in to the nastier elements of the party.
Still like ya McCain, but couldn’t vote for you this time around. Would have done so in 2000 (were I a citizen at that point).
Awesome.
Stop. You’re making us blush.
Is it common to hear booing during concession speeches? I didn’t bother to watch Kerry’s, and of course Gore’s was a bit late.
He almost seems relieved, doesn’t he?
The footage of the celebration at Spelman College, as well as Jesse Jackson crying in Grant Park, have me quite choked up.
McCain’s concession speech is pretty good too, except the whole dig about associations.
He said ‘comrads’!
Hell, I would have voted for him if he was like this.
Nah, I’m just fucking with ya.
Oh and I want to add to my previous Congratulations to all you:
Ha ha! We have a black man as our president! I don’t care what your party is thats exciting!
Woo HOO! January 20th can’t get here soon enough.
I’m so glad the victory was overwhelming. It’s been a long time coming, and after the last two elections we definitely needed a President with a clear mandate.
GOBAMA!
“We can all look forward to her future service to our party.” Palin looks so sad.
2% of precincts reporting, 8 is passing at 57%

Booing is always part of the losing crowd.
Don’t blame McCain for his supporters booing. He’s trying to stop them.
Is it normal to hear booing at a concession speech?
The old story about riding the tiger comes to mind. It’s all well and grand to grab hold of the tiger and pull yourself up, but what do you do when you realize you can’t get off without getting eaten?
I wouldn’t have voted for him, but I wouldn’t have made fun of him…
North Carolina has its first female governor!
McCain is far classier than some of his supporters…
I wonder what my workplace will be like tomorrow?
I was thinking the same thing. If we had seen this McCain it would have been a better race.
Why the hell can’t they stop booing? Grow up, jesus christ.
I just saw that on my local news station. I can’t believe it. My county voted no 3 to 1. Prop 4 is winning too
