So far McCain is ahead in Virginia but, as the mayor of Richmond just said, Northern VA has yet to report. It will swing to Obama and they have broken records with turn out. Fingers crossed.
OK, CNN has lost it. They’re “beaming in” holographic reporters.
So is that seriously a hologram on CNN, or just some green screen stuff that they are calling a hologram? :dubious:
I’m surprised to see results from Florida this early. IIRC, the polls won’t close in Tallahassee for another 40 minutes or so. Wasn’t the early reporting in Florida a big issue in 2000?
Are the numbers in this thread, particularly those IN and KY ones, exit polls or official votes counted so far?
Maybe they shouldn’t suggest anything until 100% of the votes are in.
Green screen stuff.
Fricking ridiculous!
With only 10% of the vote in from Kentucky, McCain is ahead by about 4%.
But Kentucky was going for McCain by thirteen percent according to the polls. That means one of two things:
a. The pro-Obama parts of the state have been counted up, and for the rest of the night, Kentucky will get redder and redder, or
b. Kentucky is a lot closer than the polls indicated.
More the early call than the reporting. I am surprised that numbers are even being released before all the polls have closed, but if they are, they should be reported.
Hologram or no hologram, I can’t stand Wolf, so I’m switching to MSNBC. I think they made KY red to heighten the drama (as if that was needed). I am so nervous and anxious, I can’t sit still. I’d drink, but then I’d fall asleep.
Me too ask this question.
He’s gonna need it.
You’d spend you time looking at porn on a night as momentous as this one? Have you no shame?
Votes, as far as I can tell.
Official votes counted-- all 0% of them.
Actual numbers of real votes.
Follow along here.
There’s the little matter of statistics. If they have enough votes from enough counties, then it becomes reasonably safe to assume that the votes they have are approximately a random sample of the votes that they’re going to get. That becomes indicative of the actual outcome very quickly. Yeah, there’s a chance that predictions based on the early returns are wrong, but that chance isn’t large enough to keep a news organization from reporting something. The only other choice is for news anchors to sit there and try to say something intelligent, and nobody wants that.
Where would I find out, once the polls close, on the status of the propositions in California.
Argh. I cannot get the Kos map to load fully. Now I’m stuck with TV.
Ya know, Rachel Maddow is kind of a downer. Is she every optimistic?
