2008 Presidential Election Results Thread. See it here as they come in.

CNN’s called Vermont for Obama and Kentucky for McCain.

CNN can’t project SOUTH FUCKING CAROLINA? Whoa.

well they just called it red

You don’t need Indiana, either. Actually, that Indiana is looking close is an early indication that the polls weren’t massively wrong in Obama’s favour, and hence that the poll-based projections of a substantial Obama win are probably on target.

CNN Projects:

Kentucky to McCain (8 EV)
Vermont to Obama (4 EV)

CNN is projecting Obama taking VT (3 electoral votes) and McCain taking KY (8 EV)

Late to the party, I see

Mark Warner the projected winner in Virginia – WOO HOO!!!

NPR says VT is for Barack and Kentucky is red.

Well, crap.

Lundsford holding his own against Senate minority leader McConnell!

How is Kentucky too close to call? That’s what MSNBC is saying. Indiana too close, I can see but Kentucky?

I did my part for ya here in the Hoosier state. Early exit polls look promising.

Did anyone else see Brit Hume almost explode when one of the pundits said that the Republican brand is in serious trouble?
“How can you say that?!”

Yay - thanks, River Hippie! You BaROCK!

I live in the Nebraska congressional district that has a chance at being the split electoral vote. For the first time in 45 years, Democrats are in a very slight majority in my district.

The last Nebraska electoral vote that went to any one other than the Republican front runner went to LBJ in 1964

FOX is projecting Kentucky for McCain.

How do you call kentucky with 10% of the vote?

SERIOUSLY.

Yeah, MSNBC has capitulated on Kentucky too. That was kinda ridiculous.

Well, not to put too fine a point on it, but (as least as CNN shows it), Vermont has been called for Obama with 0% precincts reporting and Obama with 0% and McCain with 0%.

Heck, I coulda done that yesterday!

You break down the early returns by county, and see if they conform to the pattern expected based on 2004 results and current polling. If they suggest that the current polls are correct, then McCain will win by 10 points or more and you may as well call it.
