Mussina went in Round 21. To Kiros, natch.
Was this the Bring Back Neifi! league from last year?
If so, I was the Roid Boys.
Yup, I’ve got you on the list. I think you’ve been in the league for the last two years.
Still trying to come up with a semi-witty league name… suggestions welcome. I thought about My Cousin A-Rod, but I may use that as my team name.
I haven’t quite decided, but “Grab Your Ankiels” is top of the list for a team name right now.
**We take our dope, straight! **is my suggestion for a league name.
Hoping for an invite…
Baseball is back!! Unfortunately, this is a bad thing for my Blue Jays.
Good old fantasy baseball will keep my interest this year as the Jays lose 100. I’m gunning for a top-10 finish this year. (Past finishing positions: 14, 10, 7, 11)
Just so everybody is aware, Yahoo maxes leagues out at 20 teams. This means that if everyone from last year participates, there’s only room for one more team, since we had 19 last year. That’s maybe a big if, but not as big as you might expect; this is a pretty stable group except for incremental growth over the years. We’ve already had one bow-out and a few no-shows thus far, but just bear in mind that we’re starting from only one open spot.
This also means that barring calamity, for the first time, the size of this league will be determined not by the size of our hearts, and the steel in our purpose, but by the Yahoo league parameters. We have stared at the infield situation in Seattle, it stared back, and we did not flinch. Be proud, men and woman. Be proud.
I’m interested again, since I’ve been in every year so far, but on the other hand after last year I’m tempted to give up my slot to someone who might make better use of it than I did – I think I was last among those who actually stayed active all year, 17th overall. So send me an invite when things get going, but I’ll hold off on signing up until it looks like a slot or two will go unused.
Just so you know, I’m against that policy, rackensack.
OK. Have fun.
Not sure what that means, but I can’t see how it could possibly be good, so I’ll clarify - I would hate to see you exclude yourself from the league even though you have interest just because you don’t think you made good enough use. You’ve been active in the league since the beginning; in my opinion that’s reason enough for you to stick around, since I like the regular group.
Ah. Misread your post. Took it to mean that your preference was that if I’m not serious about it I should just bow out.
I’m increasingly ambivalent about it, though if I do sign up I will of course do the best I can and stay involved and active even if it becomes evident that it’s pointless to do so (as is evident from the fact that even though I’ve finished 14th or lower three years running, I generally am among the leaders in terms of roster moves made). My declining performance has sort of tracked an increasing disconnection from baseball in general over the last several years (I wasn’t really even aware of it myself until last year). I just don’t follow it as closely as I once did and it shows in my performance. I do enjoy the competition and seeing how the regular cast of characters and the handful of newcomers each year do.
Ditto, and for the same reasons. If you don’t feel you want to take the time, that’s one thing. But, if you WANT to participate, I’d rather have you, who have played for years in this league, in the space than a potential unknown who might drop out in June. (Heck, in my keeper league - of which I’m the darn Commissioner - I’ve come in dead last in four of the last five seasons. But I still do it.)
No offense to potential unknowns. But I think it’s been made clear that this is a competitive league and we want managers who are committed to staying in for the entire season.
Well, the invites have gone out to all the returnees. If you haven’t gotten one, drop me a PM. For the newcomers, don’t worry, there will be some slots. rackensack, it’s your call, but you are of course welcome if you want to rejoin.
Someone has to finish last, and better you than me. (Actually, better Alex than anyone, but beggars can’t be choosers! )
Different topic - anyone interested in a NL-only keeper league? Winnowill’s been running an AL-only keeper league for the last six years or so, I’d love to start one up for the NL, using pretty much the same settings as hers (I can expand on those if anyone wants to know).
I probably shouldn’t, but, yeah, I’d be interested.
Oh, and Munch - sure, but why does it always have to be ME?!
I’d be interested in an all NL league as well. One of those things I always wanted to try, but haven’t yet.
OK, time to bump… we’ve got 12 owners at this point. The only one I know who is missing that I sent out an invite to is Kid_A (well, besides rackensack).
So, anyone else who is interested - send me a PM.
I’m in…thought I’d already signed up.
