2010 - A How'd-10-Years-Go-By-That-Fast? MMP

Hope the birthday party is fun, Taters.

Am continuing with the great picture upload. And am starting to shred stuff. Go me!

Back later with further progress.

We had a so-so breakfast at the Old Country Buffet, then ran to the maul and got **FCD **a pair of shoes for work. Daughter and I were going to do some chores downstairs, but neither of us has any motivation right now. I did pull some butter out of the fridge to soften. I feel the need to make snickerdoodles.

I also feel the need to nap. And chocolate - I need chocolate. NOW!!! <pout>

::hands FCM a couple of squares of Lindt Excellence Dark Chocolate with Intense Orange::
World Market keeps having a sale on these. Extreme yum. They’re about the only non-Ritter chocolate that I buy on a regular basis.

Thanks, guys.

Well, the pie must be good because TVMan is on his third slice already!

Hellooooo!

Still cold in Paris other than that not much else going on…

Been reading the thread on Slow Cookers over in Cafe Society and it is making me miss mine back in CA. I don’t cook here in Paris - I hate cooking for one.

Happy Saturday!

Happy Pieversary! Lemon Meringue Pie! YUM!

Howdy Y’all! Sneakin’ in a quick post before I’m off to schmooze my co-Parishoners at the Epiphany party. Should be a good time. It always is.

Later Y’all!

Well, I must get going. Hubby has decided he wants us to prepare jello shots for the party tonight. This means rushing to the liquor store, party store, AND grocery store, along with another store to buy a b-day present, rushing home, preparing said jello shots and then rushing to the party at six. Dang, I’m tired looking at that.

The fact that I’ve had two pome-whatever martinis isn’t helping.

Smooches, gropes, and hugs to all! Dang, I have to keep correcting my mistakes. I may have to eat something to soak up the booze!

Today was enlightening. People have been telling me forever what a great deal USAA is for insurance. So I joined and got an online quote - for over $400 more than I’ve been paying at GEICO. Yeah, that’s a good deal… Progressive was barely $100 cheaper for 6 months, so I’m not bothering to switch.

In other news, I just made a couple of yummerrific tuna steaks marinated in teriyaki. With broccoli and rice-a-roni au gratin. I’m now stuffded. Wish I had some dessert. I was thinking about making cookies, but I just can’t seem to get in gear. And there’s no lemon meringue pie in the house. I think I’d rather just knit. And so I shall.

After I let Scruffy out. Idiot dog.

'Ullo all. Will try to type one handed. Have severe tendonitis in left wrist w/ splint on.

10 yrs? Hmmm…
In 2000, I had 3 kids, all under the age of 10. I was working in stepdown, hating my boss and worn out due to the hours. In the past 10 yrs, I’ve:

Quit that horrible job
Gone to grad school and graduated
Gotten 2 new jobs and kept them both
Sent Daughter off to uni.
Lost 10 pounds
Had surgery and pneumonia (not at the same time!)
Buried a sister, an aunt, and my grandparents
Buried a cat
Got a new cat
I do feel like I’m in a holding pattern. I do not want to move out and leave TH with the house. I may end up doing so, but not yet (Xmas didn’t go well between us).

Not sure what the future holds for me, but I know it won’t totally suck. That is big for me.

I have watched a how to knit video.
I have watched a how to crochet video.
I have no idea which one I want to do.

I’m going to have to buy a skein of yarn, a crochet hook, and a pair of knitting needles so I can try both and see which I prefer. What size needles/hooks are good for larnin’ on, yarny Mumpers?

Glad to see things are looking up in rigsland! Tendonitis, get out of her wrist! This minute! You are not wanted here!

Hi rigs! Hope the tendinitis goes away very soon.

Spaz, pick out yarn that you like and see what needle size they recommend (it’s usually printed on the label). I’d go with something medium weight and smoothish. Don’t pick yarn that’s nubby (boucle); it’s a pain to knit with. I’d say any needle between 6 and 10 or so will be easy to start with. Good luck!

I’ve finished uploading pictures from this computer and am about to continue loading pictures from the other one. Am watching What’s Up, Doc?, sort of. I’ve watched it so many times that I don’t actually have to pay much attention. Makes me smile every time.

And I’ve been knitting, of course.

Back to work.

Howdy rigs! Ok, rigs tendonitis, stop it this instant young ummmm… thing! Leave rigs alone! I said now! I mean it!

I have no idea how my mad lecturin’ skilz work on medical stuff, but we shall see.

I’m back from celebratin’ Epiphany and schmoozin’. ‘Twas a good time! Lots o’ good munchies too! I’s stuffded! Heh. Turns out I had a buncha folks schmoozin’ on my behalf. As in, folks bringin’ folks up to me and askin’ if they know me and that I am a nominee for Vestry and need to be elected. :o and  I mean, heck, even if I am not elected, it’s nice to know I’m liked.

I asked for one recipe tonight. It was a (now don’t gag y’all!) shrimp and grits mold. It was good! Seriously. When I have the recipe I’ll post it for the blog.

OYKW found the schmoozin’/politicin’ aspect of tonight interestin’, in his words. He, bein’ a recent convert to the Whiskypal church (he’s a reformed Methodist :D), really got an idea just what a Vestry is and its role in the “business” function of the church. Or, as he put it to me, “Daaayuum! I’m impressed you want to take on a role like that!” I reminded him of the fact that when we first started seein’ each other I was servin’ on the Vestry and did in fact bitch to him about some of the stuff I was dealin’ with. He reminded me that, in his defense, at the time he had no idea what I was talkin’ about but was bein’ polite and lettin’ me rant and rave. The stinker! But, hey, he’s my stinker!

OOH! A very  thing about all those introductions. Durin’ all of ‘em, he was also introduced as my partner. I know, yeah, so what. Well, look, we’re talkin’ south Jawja here. That makes it significant. Just nice cause it was done really natural like. Made da bear feel good.

Ok, I have rambled enough. My body is remindin’ me it has been up since 3:45 am and would like to go sleepy bye now.

Nitey Nite Y’all!

Happy Pieversary!!!

Had some excitement on the after work dog walk. Some lady was beating on the door of the stop n’ rob next door, and on any car that drove into the parking lot. Nelly and I ninjaly walked away we she came by with her kid:eek:.

{{{{rigs}}}}

swampy, they tried to shanghai me onto the Parrish Council. I hid at work.

Thanks to everyone for the prayers and vibes and all ------- we can honestly say we feel them
PIE HAPPY THIRD!!! And here’s to many many more; each better than the last.

If that’s anything like Lutheran Church Councils, you made the right move. Any time two Council members get together, they will have 4 diametrically opposed opinions and all 16 will be categorically WRONG!!!

Good morning, campers! It’s cold. Scruffy peed in the dining room again. I had a night full of weird dreams (involving hiding from nuclear explosions and supervising some guys who wanted to store wainscoting on my bed… )

But I’m up and caffeinating and I think I’ll mix up that batch of snickerdoodles today. The butter has been on the counter to soften, but it’s so cold, it’s barely soft. I can deal. I need to get the dough mixed, then stuck in the fridge to stiffen up before rolling and baking.

I’m thinkin’ I’ll make up a big pot o’bean soup today. It’s good soup weather and I have that big ol’ ham bone just beggin’ to be souped. And I think I have a bag of beans in the pantry. If not, I can get some - we have grocery stores here in the boonies!

I think my first pair of knitting needles was size 9. And the first thing I knitted was a scarf. I’ve come a looooooong way since then - I’ve had a few books that had really good instructions for fancy stitches, so I’ve managed to crank out some really fancy-pants afghans. I’ve made sweaters, but they’re too labor-intensive. I’ve done a variety of hats and scarves. Never done gloves or socks, altho I did have a super-simple slipper pattern some years ago - the year everyone got slippers for Christmas.

I don’t recall when I started crocheting, but I learned that all from books. I’d rather knit than crochet, but I have had a few crochet patterns that I really liked. And the larger hooks - H or I - are easier when you’re first learning.

And for a combination of knitting and crocheting, there’s an afghan hook. It makes a very warm blanket. I’ve never used it for anything else, but I suppose if you were clever, you could manage a sweater. It’s just not easy to make anything other than a rectangle with it.

My use-up-the-scraps-kidlet-afghan is moving right along. Very stripey and colorful and warm. I’ve got another fuzzy one going in an afghan hook - it’ll be stripey, too, but with a definite pattern and fixed stripe width. And once that’s done, I’m going to try taxi’s tic-tac-toe blankie.

And I’m off tomorrow! This 4-day weekend was a brilliant idea. I needed this break. But for now, I need breakfast. Wonder if I’ll be taken out of if I have to forage on my own?

Happy Sunday!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’. YAWN

doggio and Kopek I actually want to serve on the Vestry. I’m not up on what Parish Councils do, but I have a feelin’ they are similar to a Vestry in that they handle the bidness of the church, right? We Whiskypalians elect Vestry members who in turn elect a Senior and Junior Warden (we run a tight ship! ) who are the “officers” of the Vestry along with the Parish treasurer and Clerk of the Vestry, the official keeper of records. Oh and Vestry members get to hear from their co-Parishoners whenever they think stuff ain’t right. Yet, I want to do this.

In the weather, it’s cooooooooooooooooold! 20 degrees Amurrkin with a windchill of 13!

Good morning all! I’m up and caffeinating, and had a cinnamon streusel swirl muffin as well–which I pronounce delicious.

Swampy good luck with the parish elections and congrats on having OYKW introduced as your partner!

Sorry that you’re dealing with tendonitis, Rigs; sending healing thoughts your way.

They’re showing the snowy weather in Europe and England on the news now - saying it’s the worst winter in 30 years ! Hope all of our European contingent (and there are quite a few of yas! LOL) are all making out okay.

Gotta go out and get some groceries. My crock pot of boston baked beans came out great last night - I pre-cooked the beans a bit before putting them in the crock pot and still cooked them about 8-9 hours; they were nice and soft though, so delish! I think I’m going to make some beef mushroom barley soup/stew in the crock pot today.

Hope everyone enjoys the remainder of their weekend.

Heh, wonder if SpecialOne is getting any unusual weather this year? Oh and happy Pieversary, CutiePie; sorry I’m a day late!

**tarra **- did you put your beef mushroom barley soup/stew in the Mumper cookbook? If not, would you, please, because it sounds like something I’d inhale!

I just heard the shower stop, so **FCD **must be up and functioning. I should shower now and see if he’ll buy me breakfast!

Up, caffeinated, off to work. Hockey this afternoon.

Vestry, Parrish Council, about the same thing.

Does OYKW know he’s seeing an escaped mental patient?;)
