We mumpers need visual proof of these last two.
i’d have to mail some photos, as i don’t have a digital camera.
Although i belive a couple of costumes can be seen on other’s FLICKR page under my user name.
Or not.
you don’t need a digital camera - just when you get your film developed at CVS or wherever, get the pics put on a CD. Then create your own flickr or photobucket account.
Boy, the first five-day week in a while seemed loooooooooooong. It was busy here too so now I’m tired! But KT’s headed to WI for the weekend so I’ve got the house to myself. It’ll be nice to have a quiet weekend. See y’all Monday!
Then the whole world can see you in Dubai dressed up for Hallowe’en!
I’s stuffded! I ordered catfish fillets and OYKW ordered shrimpies. We did as we are wont to do and shared half with each other. URP!
Muppet there is no such thing as leftover hush puppies. Matter of fact I had to restrain myself from orderin’ an extra order. That was hard! This place makes uber good hush puppies.
Ima go finish makin’ a pineapple and cream cheese dip for tomorrow night’s Epiphany party festivities then go snuggle down in bed.
Nighty Nite Y’all!
Enjoy your weekend, taxi.
I’ve got just a few minutes more and then I can go home too. Good thing, because I haven’t been as productive as I would like to have been.
I’m having issues building a report, or at least creating the tables and queries needed to complete the report. We have far, far too many sources of information which is creating conflicts. I’m coming up with mismatches or deltas on some of the queries and I have to keep going back and verifying the info. It’s driving me effin’ nuts.
I farted around with that all day, and I still have several other pieces to pull into this stupid report. All to show something that is already being published on a weekly fucking basis, but now they want a different look in addition to the dashboards we already publish. Yeah, like we’re sitting here with our thumbs up our asses.:dubious: Sometimes I just wanna smack the leaders around here.:dubious:
Well, it’s Friday. There’s that at least.
Hugs, smooches and gropes. I’m gonna power down and go.
Yeah I was a little stinky but mr ems said he would still ‘appreciate’ me if he was here
Yummy hush puppies…I am hungry again now!
Taters I should be back with the hubby in less than 3 months if things go to plan.
taxi it has been rough being apart but we were only married 6 months before this came up and there was no plan as to when we would a) get the chance to see each other or b) be able to be back together permenantly. We found that making immediate plans to see each other as soon as we returned from seeing each other help a lot. Made the time go quick. That and skype. And texting. And daily phone calls. And being stupidly sickening in love also helps
Right bed for me it is after midnight here and I only got off work at 9.30. I have my hot water bottle warming the sheets right now! Night all!
 Haze ! Glad you weren’t hurt? Did you get a license number?
Wow. I’m glad the only outdoor lizards I’ve ever had to deal with were the anoles on the house in Pirateville.
It was 14 degrees F when I left work at 7 tonight. 14 degrees. In North-By-God-Kakalak. I must submit a letter of protest to the weather gods.
I’m trying, I really am. Snow just loves me. At least this is the powder that blows away and doesn’t stick around for a month and counting.
If you could run over someone (anyone) from the graduate school, I’d be much obliged. They’re still holding my thesis hostage and I need to get in touch with a few staff members to see if they can liberate it for me.

This cold weather has decided me: I’m gonna learn how to knit. Any of you yarny types have any good video links for learning how to do that and/or crochet? I haven’t decided how I want to play with yarn yet.
Petercat has decided I need to pay attention to him now. Later all!
Hey Spaz, knittinghelp has some good, short videos. Nexstitch also has some videos, although I haven’t used them yet. There are also a bunch of introductory videos on YouTube. Here’s a sample set.
Glad it’s not too long before you and Mr. mmmmmm will be together again, mmmmmmmm.
I’ve organized hats and scarves and such and have started to organize stuff in the office. And done some laundry.
Back later…

Wow … so much going on with folks. I’ve been a bit under the weather as well as down in the dumps, so have just been a-lurking, not really feeling like making any comments.
Haze, wow, I hope you’re okay! Can’t believe someone actually side-swiped you!
Cutie Pie, I’ve been following Bubba on FB, and am hoping he’s feeling better today. Poor critter!
Mmms, glad to hear that you’ve got heat and hot water back–cheering for you and MrMmmms to be together, btw.
Taters, thinking of you and hoping that all goes well for you.
FCM, looks like you picked the right weekend to take off … as long as you’re staying indoors, that is! It will be freakishly cold out this weekend, unfortunately.
I know I’m forgetting … please forgive me! So very glad that it’s FIRDAY and now the weekend too. Wooo!
You may want to see the pictures from my MMP this week before deciding.
I got you marked in the Dayrunner. Weekdays I can say for sure I can swing time here and there; weekends its hard to say this far out. Keep it in mind though - I know some great bars in many varieties.
Apple pie goes great with beer so I vote “sure”!
Not always good but still in that “we don’t know” limbo. She had a stone in a bile duct of her liver that they went in and got on an emergency basis, her being on blood thinners (cumodin) and all. She has other various small problems. Her heart is weak though and there is a limit to how far they want to push her. Since she was admitted, she has developed on “off again on again” dementia. Theory is it could be a UTI but tests are pending. Yesterday she had no idea who me or the Goodwife were and she was throwing things and hitting; today we had a perfectly reasonable conversation and she was able to eat most of her lunch and ask me to sneak her in some strawberries (her favorite). We got her transferred from a regular ward to one better staffed and planned to help folks in her state - more therapy, both physical and mental. It’s going to take some out-of-pocket from us but she deserves it - we both love her a lot and we can afford it for now. She looks horrid with the weight she has lost and the bruises of the last couple weeks but sometimes that old spark still shows through.
We’re going to have to care for and maintain her house in case she surprises us and the doctors both, we’ll have to look into longer-term care in case its needed, and we have to accept that tomorrow we may have to take her good clothes down the funeral home to meet her ------- it’s all that uncertain.
I finally got the Goodwife thinking into a longer-term mode. We’ve been down there basically twice a day or so and sometimes until 11pm. She is going to work every day but I took a leave of absence to help with the legwork and stuff. I want to get back to work basically to occupy myself and do some normal things and so neither of us burns out. What I am hoping is we can rotate days ----- I’ll do like M-W-F in the afternoon and help with some of the therapy and stuff and my wife will take T-T-S in the evenings and dinner and settling her in for the night. And we’ll both pray - a lot. Not sure what for at this point other than strength and acceptance but that sounds like a good start.
I don’t want to bore anyone with details but the last ten years give or take we have been able to give her a great deal of independence and quality of life. Facing the things she has, most people her age would have ended up in a nursing home ages ago. From the time of her first serious coronary to Popsi (FIL) getting ill and dieing in bits and pieces to dealing with the weight of the years adding up. Right up to Christmas Day she was able to decide and act on her own - from calling us when she fell to making the decision that she needed checked out because something was really feeling wrong. The hardest thing at this point is knowing we can’t do it all. We can’t make her home appropriate for her in her present condition, we can’t make our home appropriate. Neither of us can quite quit our jobs to give her full time care. We can do all we can but some things we’re going to have to hand off to the pros ------- and that is tough. Especially for me in a way. My family always dies in perfect health in a manner of speaking; fast clean deaths and usually at home. Even the thought of a nursing home is so foreign that its still hard for me to im,agine. But the facts say I gotta imagine it if I want to or not.
Sorry for going on so long but its been one of those weeks.
Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’. YAWN
Kopek this is a tough situation. You’re MIL, Goodwife and you remain in my thoughts and prayers.
It’s my Firday! YAY!!!
Ok, gotta go forage and purtify for work.
Happy Saturday Y’all!
**kopek **- you’re a good guy and a good role model for me. Right now my inlaws are still OK, but every time we see them, they really do look older. We’ve got 2 spare rooms, both currently in disarray, but I’m ready to give them a bedroom and private sitting room should that be required. Of the 3 brothers, my husband is really the only one equipped to help them out long-term. We shall see how it goes.
Thankfully, my mom is doing very well for 76, and I’ve got 4 sibs, so we’ve got a built-in support network.
It’s still cold. Scruffy let me sleep in till almost 6:30, which was decent of her. **FCD **woke up in the middle of the night and went to watch TV, so he’s back under the covers. His back is really giving him fits. I fear surgery (again) is the only option. This does not please me. Not only for him, but if he’s got to be off work recuperating, our vacation may go down the toilet yet again…
I canceled our appointment with the roofing contractor. Thanks to our well-insulated attic, the snow will last some time. If it clears by next week, he’ll come then. So today is free. Daughter and I will move her classroom turtle from my studio out to her “dining room”/nook in the apartment. That way, I’ll have space for my slab roller, which I hope to get later this month. I may also bake something - I have a bag of pecans that need to be used or someone will nosh on them. What to bake??
Such is life in FairyChatLand…
Up, caffeinated, off to work all day.
Ruble, hang in there. Weekday would work a little better anyways.
Hugs for you, {{{Ruble}}}. I know it must be rough on you and your wife. My Dad moved in with us almost 4 years ago, but thankfully he doesn’t have any major health issues. He’s still independent (he drives, and does his own laundry, helps out with the dishes) but he also has me to cook and clean for him. He has a bedroom and a sitting room. It’s worked out well for all of us.
It’s freezing here! 22°F is just too cold.
I gotta tell you about our little hunter, Ernie. I came home after work last night with Chinese take-out. As I scramble around, putting all my work stuff away, getting plates and silverware out, I ran to the bathroom located off the bedroom.
In the bedroom, Ernie was acting weird, like he was guarding something. I looked behind a blanket and some boxes, and saw what looked like a furry toy. I picked it up and it was a dead bird! A headless dead bird! Ewww!!! Because I’m me, I put it in a plastic baggie and saved it for my husband to look at. Share the wealth, you know?
Ok, so I threw it out, I washed my hands about a million times, and we ate dinner. Later we got ready for bed. It was cold, so I snuggled under the covers and pulled Ernie up to snuggle with me. Something wasn’t right. <cue Twilight Zone music> He had something in his mouth! Honey, turn on the lights!!! I got it out of his mouth. It’s the bird head!!! AAGGGHHHHH!!!
That is my disgusting story for the year, I think.
Have a great Saturday, everyone.
{{{Kopek}}}, it certainly sounds like you are doing the very best that you can and that’s all that you can do. I rambled on some more and then deleted it. Let me just say that I know where you’re coming from on several accounts and admire you for what you are able to do and the obvious care with which you do it.
So, today is mine and TVMan’s 3rd anniversary! My secret mission was to bake a Lemon Meringue pie for him and it was successful, although the filling was a little bit runny. I think it’s because I added some extra lemon juice. Oh well, at least it tastes good. I’m just getting ready to make breakfast and then later on we’re going to go out to dinner. That is, if we can make it out of the drive, which, we’re only supposed to get an inch of snow, so it shouldn’t be too much of a problem.
You and your wife are awe-inspiring, ruble. All children should be so responsible and thoughtful. (Well…children of good parents, anyway…) Please keep us updated.
Sorry you’ve been under the weather tarra.
Rebo: ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!!! Made me laugh, though, because it sounds so improbable.
Happy anniversary, Pie and TVMan!
P.S. Spaz, you should also join ravelry. Even if you don’t track your projects there, it’s a great resource for patterns and advice.
I really need to get outside and shovel. But I really don’t feel like it. Guess I’ll get moving indoors some more and then consider starting with the shoveling.
Did I mention I slept lots? Fell asleep around 9:30, woke up for about an hour around 1:30, fell asleep until almost 8:00. Must have really needed the sleep, because I don’t feel groggy.
Off to have breakfast.
Hugs.
GT
**kopek, **I’m keeping you, your wife and your MiL in my thoughts.
rebo, I know it was gross, but your story made me laugh.
Happy anniversary to you and the TvMan, pie.
We’re celebrating a friend’s birthday tonight. Her birthday was actually last Sunday, but it was decided to celebrate it today because we had just done New Year’s Eve and Day.
No snow here, thank goodness.
tarra, I hope you’re feeling better.
