Valerie Bertinelli is still cute, but I watched a few episodes of Hot in Cleveland and she is looking a little hippy. She looks great for 50 even if she has put on a few pounds since she did those bikini shots for People.
I haven’t read the thread yet so I’m guessing my list will include a bunch of duplicates. I’m deliberately doing that in order to see just how long this list gets. IMO, this phenomenon is ubiquitous in Hollywood, and it might be easier to ask which hotties weren’t child stars. This dovetails into the idea that male child stars generally don’t get a chance to become a leading man, so their later career start greatly balances out the earlier end the women get.
This list would be much longer if it included actresses who got their start in their teens when they already resembled the adult they’d grow into, like Emma Stone, Amber Heard, Alexis Bledel, Sara Roemer, Hayden Panettiere, etc…

The vulnerability that makes a child/teen cute doesn’t translate well for guys trying to become leading men as they grow older. Conversely, they translate perfectly for a leading man’s love interest.
It’s funny how well Hollywood picks them. Abigail Breslin was heartbreakingly adorable in Signs, then she started looking like hotness wasn’t in her future in Little Miss Sunshine, but after seeing Zombieland she might turn into a hottie yet. Similar deal with Dakota Fanning.
I don’t think it’s fair to list the ones that almost certainly will become hotties even though they’re still pretty much little kids, but there are a few obvious ones. AnnaSophia Robb, for example.
I think Joseph Gordon-Levitt is almost there.
Hayden Panettiere had a noticeable role in Remember the Titans, which came out when she was 11, and IMDb lists several credits even before that.
She was incredibly beautiful in The Uninvited as well. Not hot, though. Beautiful like the aurora borealis.
The lovely Ms. Smith & I are about the same age, so I feel comfortable saying she was a banging hottie as a teen, too.
