I am starting this thread to see if there is any interest in an SDMB World Cup Bracket challenge. The bracket set up on yahoo is very user friendly and would support everyone who’s interested. I will set up a group for us later and as usual the password will be cecil.
I am definitely interested.
Count me in.
Head over to Yahoo and join our group if you’re interested. Our group name is “Cecil’s Soccer Surprise”, Group ID#22511 and the password is cecil.
I’m definitely in, plus will go in the local pub pool for $20. I wonder if betting brackets can finally make soccer popular in the USA?
I don’t know a damn thing about international soccer, but what the hell. I’m a sporting event junkie and I’ll be watching.
I’m in. How much I attend to this, I don’t know, but it should be fun.
Hope I remember to come back for the knockout stage picks.
I’m in.
I’m in under Oliver “James” Kahn.
Just to clarify, Do you fill out the whole thing now? Or do I wait for the knockout stage (incidentally, I created the table with goals for and against and everything, and filled it out out right to the final where I have Germany beating England 1-0). Spain is knocked out by Portugal in the first round of groups and Brazil loses to England in the semis. The only other interesting thing I have is Cameroon beating Brazil in the loser final by a big margin.
If I can edit when the group stage is finished all that will undoubtedly change.
Alright, I’m in. Every bell curve needs a bottom quartile.
You can change your picks up to 5 minutes before each game so if something really crazy happens in the first series, you can always change your knockout pick later. You can fill out the knockout stage as early as you would like to though so feel free.
You’re going down, Doc.
Cool, I may just leave it as is to see just how wrong I turn out to be.
I joined as North Korea 2010
I’m getting:
From trying to join using that link above.
Little help?
hah! Never mind. I was entering the name instead of the group #.
I’m in as Knorf.
I’ve made my Group Picks. I am disappointed that the software doesn’t calculate the winners, as I wasn’t picking winners then back filling scores, but picking games then like to see who places where in the groups. Guess I’ll have to go back through and do the math myself. Hope I didn’t come up with any ties for who qualifies.
I’m in, although I’ve never played this kind of thing before and am slightly confused by the “pick sets”. You can have five sets? Does that count as five separate entries?
I’m in - thanks for setting this up!
