2011 NFL Draft

Love the trade up for Ingram. Saints are serious about running the ball again.

WHO DAT!

So is Ryan Mallett a giant headcase or something?

Pretty much, yeah. I think some team is going to get a major steal tomorrow. Might be interesting to see San Fran take a shot with him under Harbaugh.

He’s a giant coke-headcase

EXACTLY!!! Could SOMEONE, ANYONE, explain to me how Newton WILL NOT be a MASSIVE trainwreck?

If you like slow guys who are always hurt, then yeah, Who Dat. Actually, he’s a perfect fit for Nawlins, he’ll get along with the guys they have great in the trainers room.

Who’s left in the Green Room?

Not coke, but he’s got a massive ego. He’s a prick and a half.

Reggie Bush just tweeted “It’s been fun New Orleans”. Guess that clears that up.

Scoop on the Bears-Ravens fiasco.

Wonder what the cock-up saved us, what’s the price to move from 29 to 26? Probably would have cost us a 4th rounder at least I imagine and we’ll need that pick. Glad it still worked out and we got our guy. The Ravens were involved in that Vikings screw up a couple years back too, Angelo is taking the blame but you have to wonder if it’s a Ravens thing.

Seeing as how Peppers didn’t record a sack against the Packers this year, any sack, even a half sack, will be an improvement.

Remind me again, which team won the NFC Championship and the super Bowl lasy year?

Oh. That’s right.

You got the guy you wanted for the Bears. I got the guy I wanted for the Packers. Now we’ll just have to see what the future holds.

I’m a 'Bama fan that doesn’t follow pro football much. What’s the deal with the Saints and Reggie Bush?

I never said Clifton sucked. The tape on Sherrod isn’t particularly compelling.

I spent the last hour or so looking at YouTube clips of Carimi and I have a little bit of a chubby. They guy goes forward like a man and might actually make this team competent around the goal line. It would be interesting if we were able to pair him with Moffitt in say the 4th round.

Bush is due a ton of money from the Saints in the final year of his massive first contract as the #2 overall pick. He’s constantly injured and while incredibly dynamic in the Saints unique offense when on the field he’s not worth the price . Had the Saints not drafted a RB he probably would have renegotiated his contract for less money since both team and player wanted to stay together to their mutual benefit, Ingram almost certainly will prove to be a cheaper and marginally more reliable option which means Bush will be cut and shopping his services elsewhere.

Here’s the scoop in more detail.

Apparently this is another in a long line of bumbling and indecision from the Bears front office. Jerry can’t retire soon enough, sadly Ruskell’s addition didn’t seem to improve matters in this case. Thankfully the Bears screw up worked to their advantage for a change, losing that 4th rounder would have stung quite a bit considering the number of needs and the depth at certain positions.

Well, the Eagles picked up Danny Watkins. I hear he’s 27.

I didn’t hear anything about this guy pre draft, and it seemed like he generated no buzz. So in a way I’m disappointed. I don’t know anything about the guy other than, a) he’s old, b) he was a firefighter, and c) Howard Mudd loves him. And in Howard I trust, so good on us. Even if we probably could have swung a deal in round two to move up and get him.

Here’s hoping there’s still a way to get a good corner on this roster. And that Mudd can turn Winston Justice into an above average tackle instead of just an average one. In Mudd I trust. In Mudd I trust…

Watkins was one of the most common projections for the Bears pick in the last round of Mocks that came out after the top of the draft started to take shape. He got his fair share of talk and it’s not really a surprise that he came off the board in the first round once we saw how early Pouncey was picked. You left out that he’s Canadian though.

Not coincidentally, Carimi was a very common projection for the Eagles pick. That the Bears and Eagles essentially flip flopped selections is logical, I suspect each team got the guy they had rated higher as a result. Hopefully the Bears were right.

It’s unfathomable to me how a team can miss their draft pick or muck this stuff up.

The Bengals got the best offensive player in the draft! WOOT!

I keep hoping my Steelers will beef up the O-line. Oddly, Thomlin isn’t taking my calls regarding my opinion on this.
