All right, Boling is avilable and the Bears need another OL…make the pick.
Ugh…enough with the fucking DBs Lovie.
That Conte pick SUCKS. We just drafted Major Wright, signed Chris Harris and are probably going to be moving Tillman to SS at some point plus we should be trying to resign Danieal Manning in free agency. Conte screams special teamer and we burned a 3rd on his sorry ass. Boling or Toss would have been way better values and had far more impact.
For a DB specialist Lovie certain does a piss poor job of drafting and developing them. Fucktard.
The Panthers just grabbed Sione Fua. Draft grade? 35! Woo hoo! Way to go Marty…
Mallett to the Pats!
I had Fua on my Fifth Round shopping list. I like the player but wow.
I don’t like the Culliver pick for the 49ers. I’d have picked Davon House.
My draft grade for the Bears will be a pretty good one because I think both Carimi and Paea are terrific values where they were picked and the Bears were very fortunate to get players at their 2 major positions of need, but this 3rd round pick and the loss of a 4th is going to really be troubling. If we were able to boast that we came out of the first two days with Carimi, Boling and Paea I’d have been doing backflips.
They have the picks to spare to make a move like that. I hate them.
Who did the Steelers pick for their second choice? I don’t know him.
He certainly goes against type, that’s for sure. But it’s high time they grabbed a guy who can play in the slot and get open underneath. He runs great, precise routes and should have a field day finding all the empty spots in zones that open up when VJax and Floyd go deep and a safety and linebacker are busy doubling Gates.
The Chargers have certainly seen enough of him to know what they’re getting. And best of all – he can’t possibly get lost on the way to Qualcomm.
Some quick numbers:
24 of 32 picks in the first round on defense.
20 of 32 picks in the second round on defense.
20 of 33 picks in the third round were on defense.
:eek::eek:
I want to take a 7th round flier on Jermale Hines of Ohio State, safety - so that we’d have him and TJ Ward in that position.
Then we could hear in a game "Hines Ward has been decapitated by a simultaneous hit from Hines and Ward.
I see the Raiders drafted a 6th-7th guy in round three who was  the fastest guy in the draft. Who’d have thought?
coughHeyward-Beycough
The Eagles have had a strange draft, and as such, I’m not sure where I stand with them. They didn’t draft a single guy I had heard of, which admittedly, doesn’t mean much. They also didn’t draft a single guy who had made a “My guys” list in this thread. Nor did they draft anyone who made a “Your guys” list. Take that as you will.
… so… what did they get?
Well they got a very highly respected OG/OT who was a former fireman (Danny Watkins). He’s gotten a lot of respect for his work ethic and his character, as well as his nasty streak on the field (FWIW ESPN has him listed as their top OG prospect in this draft). He has one really big downside - he’s 26. He’ll be 27 during the season. You can take this one of two ways; either this is a downside because he’s already in his prime years without having gained the years of experience beforehand, or, he’s got a long way to go because he hasn’t been playing football as long and thus hasn’t taken as much beating.
I think it’s a non-issue overall, and I think Howard Mudd is going to make him into a Pro Bowler at some point. Not a single person who actually reviewed this pick in the media had a negative thing to say other than his age.
The Eagles also drafted Jaiquawn Jarrett, S from Temple. I immediately thought he was a reach, but apparently ESPN has him as the second rated S behind Rahim Moore who went nine picks higher. I love what I’ve read about this guy. Hard hitter, great tackler, and the QB of the Temple defense. He’s a really smart kid with a great work ethic and strong leadership. Really hope all that comes true. His biggest knock is that he’s not an exceptional athlete and doesn’t have great ball skills, but the Eagles’s other safety, Nate Allen, should fill that role easily if he comes back healthy. I really love this combo if it develops properly.
Then finally in the third the Eagles got CB Curtis Marsh, who does seem to be a reach. However, he’s the absolute perfect fit for an Eagles corner. He has prototype size, he’s fast, and has excellent ball skills. And from what I’m reading, he may have some of the best man press abilities of any CB in the draft, which is exactly what the Eagles want most in a corner outside. He’s a project though, he started as a RB in Utah St., but surprise!, he’s also extremely coachable with a great work ethic and team-first mentality.
It really seems like the Eagles are drafting character guys first who fit exactly what the team is trying to do, scheme-wise. With the excellent coaching staff in Philly, I’m glad they’re targeting coachable guys. I may not know too much about these guys, but I love what this team is trying to do. I can’t wait to see it work. It’s going to come down to coaching, because none of these guys are really “upside” picks with an abundance of talent.
Dontay Moch is an interesting pick for the Bengals. Ran the fastest time of all the LB’s and most of the CB’s at the combine.
It’s an interesting change in M.O. Not sure I’m that big a fan of piling up picks for players who most likely won’t amount to anything but I suppose there’s something to be said for just playing the numbers game. Throw a bunch of shit at the wall and see what sticks…
Some quick thoughts:
-
The Bears are still lying slimebags for not delivering what they promised to the Ravens. They should be ashamed, but they’re likely not. Too bad the Ravens can’t kick the shit out of them this year.
-
I love the first two picks of the Packers, great value, high upside, and at positions of need. I greatly dislike their third round pick, which wasn’t good value, has limited upside, and there were other needs that should have been addressed.
-
My favorite guys left: Sam Acho, Christian Ballard, Derrick Locke, James Brewer, and the other My guys I listed on page 3.
-
Unfortunately, I don’t see much talent at 3-4 DE that blows me away anymore. Maybe Powe, Parker, or Siliga, but nobody I’m drooling over.
-
I like these rounds better than the first. More fun.
Hey! The draft starts earlier today so that means I can watch! Sure it’s rounds four through seven, but the Eagles make a living out of these rounds, so it should be interesting. Two fours, two fives, a six, and three sevens - the Eagles should be busy.
And we start with depressing news about the lockout and how undrafted rookies won’t have any impact this season. I’m already depressed
