This all gets back to the notion that a bowl is a big bowl if it’s played on January 1. Face it, a lot of the bowls suck ass and don’t deserve to be on the New Years schedule. Put half of these on the preceding Saturday and it’s a lot easier to avoid carving up one of your audiences.
I can’t have much sympathy for FSU’s lack of a Defensive coordinator. NIU’s head coach has bailed out already to take over at NC State. I’m guessing that the rest of the NIU staff will be busy looking for new jobs and not game-planning too much.
