I worked for an awful boss up until July and the fall out from that debacle continues. The IRS decided we owed more than we paid in taxes and I’m still working on that bill. Financially, it’s been a pretty tough year for us, but we struggled on through. My mother, father, and MiL all have health issues and I’m seeing a decline in their overall well-being. It’s hard to watch.
On the good side, my son graduated high school and started college. He’s doing very well over there, both academically and socially. He’s always been a very popular person and is just one of those people that others are drawn to.
My daughter continues to do well in college, and will probably graduate after this quarter. She plans to work for a year, then go back for her Master’s degree. She needs a full year of working with children in order to qualify for her Master’s program. She and her boyfriend seem happy and I imagine there will be a marriage at some point in the next year or two.
I’m hoping 2012 brings us a little less stress and that we can hang on financially. Neither of us have had raises (my husband for quite some time) and me since 2010. Well, I did have a step increase this summer, and it helped, but it’s not enough to cover what needs covering.
**janis **- quiet marriages work out just fine. At least 28 years… Good luck to you and your sweetie!
Welcome back, mmmmmmmm! I hope you remembered to bring us all souvenirs of your travels!
**{{{Woody}}} **- hang in there, dude!
**BBBobbio **- you’re either an excellent stalker or a really lousy one - haven’t seen you in months!!!
**kopek **- I’m crushed that I didn’t make the highlights of your year! You and your charming spouse were certainly mentioned, if not by name, is my list.
**tarra **- if you’d retired in southern Merrylande, we could be hanging together, so it’s your fault! But once you get out and take a few classes or something, you should settle right in, yes?
**Taters **- someday you’ll look back on all the work crap and chuckle. That or you’ll be giggling insanely in a padded cell. Either way, it couldn’t be any worse, right! Hope 2012 is better!
And on that note, I’m going to try to finish the stairwell that we started almost 4 years ago. I think the drywall mud should be dry enough to sand.
2011 started with me being screwed by incompetent and unscrupulous bosses out of a job, being paid to sit home for five months then ending up in a better job for more money where I’m surrounded by nice people who appreciate my talents.
In October the CatKid got married.
So lots of ups and downs. I only want 2012 to be stress free.
N.O.L. has been ingested and will soon be on its way out just like brekkie.
Also, we have had a nappy poo. Right now OYKW is at his place to do a load of laundry. I’m headin’ over in a bit and we shall make a run to Sam’s for laundry detergent and I need to get gas. Then we’ll meet up with MOG and a couple other people at good Eyetalian. Cakeage shall also be had which is always a good thing.
Welcome home mmmmmms!
Fiat I never know celebrity stuff except for celebrity deaths cause of the Death Pool over in the Game Room. ‘Tis a fun, albeit ghoulish and disgustin’, game.
The worst of the mud sanding is done, and a few nasty spots have been remudded. If they’re dry tomorrow, I’ll finish sanding, then I can slap a coat of primer over all the new sheetrock. And once that’s dry, I’ve got to paint the entire stairwell, including way up out of reach - figuring that out will be a challenge, especially considering how much I hate ladders. But I think I know how to approach it.
**FCD **has been achy most of the day - he’s also been watching TV most of the day. We’ll do a water change shortly - earlier than we normally would do it, but we’ve got to shift the water change schedule so daughter doesn’t have to worry about it when she’s staying here.
It’s gray and windy and cold out - I’ve got a fire going so this room is cozy. Gotta figure out what to do for supper - I don’t feel like cooking, but we’ve got to eat. Maybe I’ll do sketties - that’s quick and easy.
2011 was a good year. I finished my Associates Degree and got back onto my antidepressants so I’m a lot happier and better functioning. We also adopted a dog we hadn’t meant to adopt but we’re totally happy that we did. I also finally got back into my few attempts at crafting. The really big thing of the year was being accepted to my first choice program at my first choice school.
2012 is so far going very well. I have orientation in 2 days. Unfortunately, being a new student means that I have to wait for orientation before registering for classes and this means that most of the classes I need or want are already filled. But, I went through the entire course catalog and choose classes I either wanted or needed and then checked to see what was still available and then made a tentative schedule. As long as the classes I want don’t fill up by Wednesday, I have a good schedule with classes I actually want to take.
I have tons of English chocolate to share if that works for anyone? Also for the second year in a row I have returned from home with a nasty upper respiratory crud thing that I am also more than willing to share.
So for my last day of joli-days I did indeed de-Christmas inside and out, cooked chicken which will be turned into soup in the next 20 mins or so, did a buncha laundry of which the sheets are finishing up in the dryer as I type, took a nap and went to Target all which was were done while feeling kinda bleh from the aforementioned crud which means I didn’t clean so that is next weekends plan.
Had neighbors over for dinner. Had [del]champagne[/del] sparkling wine, red wine, AND grappa. May be just a bit…[del]durnk[/del] tpisy. I blame FABF’s hubby.
The living room project is coming along nicely. While my mom and I were out today my dad got rid of some more stuff and also brought in a tv for me to watch. Tonight we talked about it and we’re going to put a loveseat in there, too, so that Bubber and I can hang out together on the couch.
As a matter of fact, I was sitting in there watching a movie, but I came back in the family room so that he could sit with me. I’ve been keeping him upstairs tonight for observation because earlier while my dad was cleaning he left a cheeseburger unattended and one of the dogs ate it and we think it was Bub. We’ve given him a Pepcid and so far he’s ok.
You could prosper in the field of medical research.
As a test case.
Back from good Eyetalian. MOG had arranged for most of our circle of friends to be there so 'twas fun and a nice surprise for OYKW. Plus we had bellinis and cake! YUM!!!
Now I shall go lie upon the bed and watch some teevee till sleepy time hits me.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’. YAWN 'Tis 32 Amurrkin out with a predicted high of only 44! Gasp! One would think it’s Winter out.
Looks like I killded the MMP.
That’s all I got for now. I need more caffiene to wake me up and tummy wants to be fed. Then, alas, irk purtification must commence as it is back to irk time. Rah.
I haven’t been sleeping well lately, not sure why. Nonetheless, I’m up. I’ve got to take my grandparents for some blood work this morning then breakfast. After that I really should come home and start working on show applications. Although, since that is nearly my least favorite thing to do in the world, we’ll see whether it happens or not. :dubious:
