Sad my Als couldn’t pull it off. I hope Calgary wins. I dislike the idea of Toronto winning on the home field after straight up stealing Ricky Ray from the Eskies, and I also feel like Kevin Glenn was robbed of a rightful Grey Cup in the 'peg by that broken arm. Quarterback match-up makes it an easy pick for me.
I think that the respective season outcomes for the Argos and the Esks show that the Edmonton management made the right call last month when they terminated Tillman.
But rumors abound that he’s in line to replace Jim Barker as GM in Toronto, which would be beyond dirty pool, in my mind. It’s like Ryan Dinwitty putting on the green and white after he won the Riders a Grey Cup!
The Stamps might be horseless for the game.
Stay classy, Toronto.
Love all these Argos fans coming out of nowhere, after years of outselling garbage Buffalo Bills games rather than their home town local team.
I heard on CBC radio that there is supposed to be horses in the Royal York for a photo op sometime tomorrow.
I will be terribly upset if Quick Six isn’t at the game.
So, is anyone actually going to Grey Cup? or will we all be communing via tv and internet feeds?
I’ll be attending my local sports bar’s Grey Cup party. Plenty of food specials, beer specials, and door prizes. And likely a squares game run by the bar’s usual bookie. Of course, the game will be on all the TVs. It should be fun.
It would be nice to be in T.O. to see the game in person, but that wasn’t in the cards.
Man, Torontonians are uptight.
If they let the Stamps have a horse in the stadium, the horse and rider have to stay in one corner; no riding. And, even that isn’t confirmed: Stampeders’ horse okayed for Grey Cup appearance, says rider - or is it?
And the Royal York is getting pissy about a long-standing Canadian tradition: Royal York Hotel Tells CFL to Hold Its Horses.
Mrs Piper, the Piper Cub and I will likely just be watching it at home this year. The last few times the Riders were in it, a friend organized a Grey Cup party, but I don’t think that’s happening this year, without the Green & White incentive.
by the way, where’s mnemosyne? it’s almost like she only participates in CFL threads when the Als are doing well - it can’t be that, surely?
At least the horse got his nose in the door of the hotel: Grey Cup: Calgary Stampeders fans parade horse outside Royal York hotel. From the item:
Looks like the horse made it inside!
Grey Cup: Royal York hotel denies entry to horse, relents later in the day.
MLSE just opened a Real Sports bar in Ottawa, which is going to be packed to the gills Sunday. I thought about meeting my school friends there, but they’re apparently camping out at brunch for spots. My church choir duties must come ahead of football, as with every Sunday…
I’ll watch the game at home, or maybe find a dive bar to watch it at.
Bump.
It’s on! Go Stamps!
Wow - Barnes almost made it 21-3 Argos. They’re walking all over the Stamps.
Well, now it’s 24-6, and Calgary looks horrible.
I thought Inman had that touchdown the first time, but he got it two plays later.
I’m glad to see that the game is being carried live here in the States (on NBC Sports). Watching it now, until the Packer game starts, at which point I’ll be switching back and forth.
I guess I’m an Argos fan now, after our visit to Toronto this summer, and going to see the Argos play (and lose to) the Lions. They’re having a pretty darned good half.
Not looking good for the Stamps. Wow, not much is going right for them. Oh well, one more half of football for the year. Fingers crossed for a better second half.
When was the last Grey Cup when one side didn’t score a TD? Starting to look like that stat might get updated…
Calgary is playing some epically terrible football. Frankly, Toronto should be winning by 35, 40 points. A REALLY good team, as opposed to this 9-9 squad, would have turned this into a 55-7 laugher. The Stamps aren’t just playing badly, they seem to have an awful game plan; how many utterly broken plays are they up to now?
