Wonder what can teams do to give higher emphasis on quality back up QBs after this season…
There just aren’t that many NFL quality QBs around. How many backup QBs in the league would you feel confident starting?
Growing up in Denver. I’ve been a Bronco fan all my life. I fell in love when they won back to backs, dismayed when they hired McDaniels, and flat out betrayed when they squandered their picks on Tebow. At this point, I feel like I’m trying to deny my feelings for a cheating girlfriend. My brain tells me not to get involved, that they’re only gonna hurt me again, but my heart wants to believe they’re for real this time.
At least give back-up QBs more practice/playing time for sure instead of trying to dust them off.
The Broncos won’t cut Tebow this off-season. He’ll be next year’s starter.
I sort of felt like that, but as a Ravens fan i have to give priority to the Steeler hate, so i’m loving this game so far.
As an aside, i just spoiled the second quarter for a friend of mine. He’s a huge Denver fan, and i called him to talk about the game, but he’s about 15 minutes behind the action, watching it on Tivo. When i called, it was still 6-0 Steelers on his TV, but i gave away that the Broncos were kicking ass before he could tell me that he wasn’t watching live.

If I’m the Broncos the only backup QB on the Steelers that I fear is Dixon. He’s mobile and looked competent when he played last year.
I think if I’m the Steelers I go spread offense for the rest of the second half if Big Ben is back in there.

How many starters do you feel confident in starting? At any given time there seems to be about 20 people in the entire world capable for being a good NFL QB.
Pouncey was declared out earlier in the week. It’s Legursky.
And that’s a good point, as far as it goes. Rothliesberger is one of those twenty, if not better. Even injured, is he better than Charlie Batch?
I think Batch sucks and is WAY past his expiration date. Big Ben in the spread is their best option. However, he can’t play under center or be asked to move the pocket and extend plays. They gotta try and run the quick pass, 5 wides scheme all game. If they don’t have that in their play book and/or don’t have the OL/WR personnel to make it work they should try Dixon and see if they can catch lightning in a bottle.
My 2 cents. Though I hope the Steelers crash and burn under any circumstance.

This looks like a fumble/lateral, I don’t know why they’ve been so quick to blow the whistle in the playoffs.
This seems like the crummiest officiating crew in the playoffs. They’ve ruled pretty much everything an incomplete pass.
Wow, that was absolute bullshit. Steelers saved by the ref again.
You can’t challenge forward pass vs lateral? WTF is that?
That was just a terrible call.
That rule needs serious revision.
Rules committee is going to rip this one to shreds in the offseason.
