I don’t see a current thread on this, and there’s no Halloween forum this year, so here’s mine for 2012.
I was pleasantly surprised - on the table in the light it didn’t look like much, but outside it totally rocks!

excellent it is
My friend’s “Wild Things” freehand (it’s got 3 monsters and Max), from day 2.
Awesome! Love the one with the blinds !
Bah, the best I could manage was a traditional face with fangs instead of the usual gap-toothed grin. I’m not exactly what you’d call artistic. I’ll just have to admire the avant-gourd work of others.
golf clap
Yeah, I clearly need to up my game, too. Those are great. As I had never carved a Halloween pumpkin before in my 35 years on this planet (I know, deprived childhood, right?), I thought I’d start with the basics. I only had one pumpkin, but now I have a craving to get more creative.
My friends and I have been getting together to carve pumpkins for 10+ years now and we’ve only ever used drugstore tools and patterns from either zombiepumpkins.com or the drugstore books that come with tools (all of the pumpkins from the group shot except the jack-o-lantern are from drugstore books).
Anyway people are always super impressed with our pumpkins and we never have to be creative or crafty to get them to look so good. Every year I have new people come carve with me and they are always blown away by their own ability (with a pattern)!
Yeah that one is fantastic.
The blinds one is my fave too, and it’s not even mine It’s from a Pumpkin Masters drugstore book.
I just know that if I attempted that one I’d end up slicing through at least one of the blind slats. And probably a finger or two.
I’ll put along our two:
Nothing special but both are interesting, I think. don’t miss the scar.
The skull was obvious due to the pumpkin shape. The other one is a Tripod from a kids’ SciFi series. Not doing a face really makes it actually pretty interesting. We wished we’d had more pumpkins in order to do more abstract ones.
I tend to way over-commit on my pumpkin design. Every single year I am reminded what a terrible pumpkin carver I am. Don’t believe me? Left = what it’s supposed to look like; right = what happened.
I literally laughed out loud.
