. . .and the loser is: the Jeep Cherokee (scroll down)! Honestly, WTF were they thinking? Even the KIA upstages this mutt.
I thought the same thing about the Nissan Juke, but apparently those are selling decently.
I think the Cherokee looks fine, the grill is a little different but not alarmingly so. What do you dislike about it?
When the pre-production pics leaked out, Ralph Giles told everyone to wait for the official reveal and let it grow on you. I was one of the guys who was very skeptical about the front end treatment, but now that I’ve seen it from lots of angles I think it actually works very well, just not from the sort of “4 ft off the ground” angle that the initial press photos used.
I’m not a fan of the rear end, looks like a Subaru Tribeca. They’ll sell a lot of these though - I thought the same thing about the 2nd gen Cayenne, which has grown from awful to somewhat acceptable, and this looks better than the Cayenne.
The grill. It looks like a toaster, and the opening below the grill looks like the vehicle is about to vomit.
I’ll tell you want I don’t see anywhere on that page, creativity and style. Everything looks like minor variations on the same thing. It’s either the angry scowl car or it’s the shoebox. The only one that doesn’t follow the same basic styling rules is the Porsche which seems stuck in the 70s.
The Jeep’s grill is a bit off to me but it doesn’t look any worse than anything else on that page.
Different squids for different kids I guess. It doesn’t seem like a major departure from previous grills.
It’s more than the grill: the Cherokee has always been a decent off-road vehicle, and the Grand Cherokee was based on the Mercedes version. Now they’ve made it into an urban soccer mom SUV based on Fiat. Jeep lovers everywhere mourn its passing.
You do realize that this Cherokee will be better off road, stock for stock, than the old XJ right? Jeep lovers everywhere get angry about everything, then they get over it, and then they buy another jeep. I remember when they got rid of the ancient 6 in the Wrangler and every jeep lover claimed they would never buy another. Didn’t hurt the Wrangler a but. I have an XJ. And while it is bullet proof, the new Cherokee will be better than it in every single possible way.
where is the info on the Corvette?
It was totally redesigned. It was the star at the Detroit auto show, its first appearance.
Very awesome. They brought back the Stingray, and even the base $54K Stingray, is faster than the current year $120,000 Z06. All aluminum body ( a first) and carbon graphite used along with fiberglass. Net loss of 400 lbs, plus lower center of G.
Digital dash, you can slide the displays from one screen to another, like an IPad. Or make a huge tach only display on main monitor when racing (no need for speedo). Finally have multiple color leather interiors that match the exterior; like red paint = red leather seats, read armrests in door, red on dash. Same for yellow, blue, etc…
please watch this youtube with Corvette’s cheif engineer:
Nice looking hotrod, sorta reminiscent of the Viper.
The Z06 starts at $75k, I don’t think even a ZR1 can top out to $120k, and the Z06 and ZR1 have aluminum bodies.
