We were tantalizingly close in Pittsburgh a few years ago to a 0-0 tie in regulation on MNF. That field was so terrible I was rooting for the FG to miss.
Should be an exciting game, no?
I sure wish we had more than a week with Rodgers starting before the Packers have to play the 49ers, but it is what it is. Kaepernick killed the Packers with his legs in last years’ playoffs, and killed them with his arm in the first game of this year. Personally, I would not be the least bit confident with him running my offense, but he’s very good when not asked to do too much passing, which will likely happen against a depleted and not very good Packer defense.
We should figure out a wager. Like a block of cheese versus a case of Rice of Roni.
What’s the rule on intentional grounding? How close does the intended receiver have to be? McCoy was two yards from where that pass landed.
The throw at least has to cross the line of scrimmage.
That is only outside the tackle box. He was in the tackle box. I have never in my life seen intentional grounding called on a busted screen thrown into the dirt. Not when the QB was standing up and untouched.
Chudzinski fired by Cleveland.
So, I guess Haslan has the same skills in running a football team as he does in running a chain of truck stops. Seriously, why do you fire a coach after a single year other than your own stupidity?
Especially a head coach stuck with Jason Campbell as a QB after being saddled with a prior draft pick as QB and making a no name backup look good. I have no idea what Haslam is doing.
After watching the Eagles turn the ball over on downs instead of kicking a field goal, and then the Cowboys turning the ball over on downs on the very next possession, maybe there is something to be said for the more conservative approach to coaching in the NFL.
Small sample size.
And just to prove my point, Dallas makes a touchdown on fourth and nine — and good thing, since they got screwed on a messed-up play clock before. Normally I don’t hope for the team I’m rooting against to get a touchdown.
Couldn’t ask for a Romo replacement to fill those shoes any more exactly.
Yup, Chud is a QB specialist and I think he did a commendable job with the garbage fire that is the QB depth chart in Cleveland. It’s possible that there are internal conflicts that necessitated his ouster, but based on the product on the field he should have gotten another year to build.
IIRC, Lombardi was hired after Chud and the rest of the Coaches so perhaps this is a power play by Lombardi. Anyone think they are considering promoting Norv?
I’m quietly hoping the dump Ray Horton so the Bears can scoop him up to be our DC.
Watched the Green Bay-Chicago game today with a rabid assho… uh, Bears fan in the room. My brother-in-law (from Kansas City  ) kept telling us how either way our team would lose to his Chiefs in the Super Bowl. In the end the FIB ended up crying in his beer.
Meh, I don’t expect the Packers to go very far from here. 8-7-1 is a pretty pathetic record for a division champion! But I don’t think the Chiefs are going anywhere either.
Hi. I’m an Eagle fan. And I must say, BOOOOOOOOOOYYYYEEEEAAAAAHHHHHHH!

So give me the stats. I’m perfectly willing to be convinced that it’s better to try and get a touchdown on fourth down than kick a chip shot field goal, when you’re up by one, but I’d love a bit of analysis to overcome my “small sample size”.
I have not been overly impressed with any other NFC team outside the Seahawks that I would conclude the Packers couldn’t get it done. I think the49ers, Panthers, and Saints are all beatable, as are the Seahawks with a herculean effort by an elite QB.
I realize that. But there must be rules in place in case it occurs again.
November 26, 2007. Pittsburgh kicked a field goal in the final seventeen seconds to beat Miami 3-0. That may have been when I heard the factoid (if I did in fact hear it).
The Saints are definitely beatable on the road in January. I don’t do betting lines, but I’d call them the underdog @Philly next week.
The wise guys agree…opening line is Saints -2.5…I however do NOT agree. I think the Saints will destroy the Eagles.
