What an embarrassing display of tackling.
Damn, Packers giving it away in what was supposed to be Aaron Rodgers triumphant return.
The NFL will significantly change the year they focus on calling offensive push offs. Just about every back-shoulder throw will be a penalty. Several offenses may have to change considerably.
Rodgers has not played well at all. He’s missing guys, making bad throws, and looks out of sorts. Maybe he can pull it together at the end, but he’s not himself at all.
I am usually a pretty big defender of officiating, but this year I’m thoroughly convinced that the rules and the officiating judgment calls so completely favor the offense that it is pathetic.
Packers shoukd have had a delay of game on that 4th down.
Dear Randall Cobb,
We feel bad about Alshon not getting you anything for Christmas. Here, have this touchdown.
Love,
Chris Conte
Just don’t kick it to Hester.
What an embarrassment.
I think Cutler might have been across the line for that hail mary anyway.
Rule is he has to be completely across, was only straddling it.
What an ending. 4th and 8 on the 50? throw it to the endzone.
I don’t expect the Packers to make it far, but hey, it is amazing they made it at all.
Brian
There wasn’t a single holding penalty called in that game.
Well, it’s a win for the Packers. Not pretty, not hope inducing, and not satisfying, but a win nonetheless. In a battle of “which defense will suck the most” the Bears and Chris Conte eke out the Packers and Morgan Burnett. Credit the Bears run defense, which clearly focused on stopping Eddie Lacy and James Starks, and, by and large, did the job. But despite a couple of gift interceptions, their tackling was too poor, and their coverage too blown, to win the game.
Go Pack Go!
The SF FG at the buzzer won me my picks pool and $250. Needless to say, that game took a year or two off the end of my life.
Man, I am so glad not to be a steelers fan. So close, what a horrific way to have your hopes dashed by the OT comeback.
but their tears are delicious
No kidding. Especially with those 2 delay of game penalties!!
Go 9ers!!!
An overtime question: I seem to remember hearing somewhere that an NFL game does not go into overtime if neither team scores during regulation - the game is just recorded as a tie. But when I searched for this just now, I couldn’t find confirmation of this. Any help? (Incidentally, I did find there hasn’t been a scoreless game in the NFL since 1943.)
The 49ers are coming for you, Green Bay.
Nemo, all the 0-0 games predate OT.
