2014 Golden Globes

That makes me mad. Not that it played there, but that it didn’t play here. I would have seen it if it had been in the theater.

Aliens are attacking Paula Patton! They’ve taken over half of her dress! Call the National Guard!

Well, HBO produced it, so it’s going to run there. Soderbergh did say that the reason it ended up on HBO is that all the studios said it was ‘too gay’, so I suppose a studio willing to take more risk might have dropped it into US theaters.

Nice to see the Hollywood Foreign Press rectifying the outrage of never recognizing Bryan Cranston for his work in “Malcolm in the Middle.”

It’s also a sign of today’s cable dominance in drama that when you see somebody nominated from a network show (Spader for “Blacklist”) it just seems weird.

Okay, commercial time. What’s the point of Microsoft using BE BRAVE as an advertising angle? You have to be brave to use Windows 8? You’re a wimp if you don’t use a Surface tablet? Dancing doctors preparing for their own mastectomies can only be found using Bing? I really don’t get it.

I’ve seen other HBO films in the theater. Even a limited run in major cities would have been nice. I know I sound insufferably snobby, but Liberace was a larger-than-life character. I wanted to see it on the big screen.

The real Philomena!!!

Emma Thompson just looks fantastic.

Philomena, the story in which they had to make up a bunch of crap to make it seem even more dramatic.

Lots of winners from way back in the room tonight.

High as a kite?

That was so nice, Coogan bringing out Philomena Lee. I know not many people saw Philomena but it was so wonderful, such a sad, powerful story, and so well-told, with honesty, humor and humanity. One of my favorites of last year.

And some made-up stuff. Which I find annoying in films ‘based on a true story’.

Well, I love Bono and U2, but how “Let It Go” isn’t the best song from a movie …

Just saw somebody on Twitter ask if Alex Ebert just came out of the dryer.

I’ve never hear of him, but he’s cute. In a messy way.

Looks like Amy Adams got to keep one of her dresses from American Hustle. Va-va-voom!

No kidding!

I also gotta say, I wasn’t as blown away by American Hustle as a lot of other people were, but Jennifer Lawrence and Amy Adams are two of my favorite actresses. Great to see them get awards. Great to see them anytime, if you knowwhatImean, amirite?

We not only don’t get clips of Best Actress in Motion Picture “Comedy” we don’t get the name of the category! I wanted to see Greta Gerwig’s clip! She was wonderful in Frances Ha, deserved the surprise nomination, and even if she didn’t stand a chance of winning, deserved to have a few seconds of her performance shown. ARGH!

LOL Harvey Weinstein.
