Since Cleveland is getting all jiggy with the trades, perhaps they’d be interested in Jason Campbell for their second rounder.
If Blake Bortles has the third best NFL career in this draft, I will eat Senor Beef’s stompin’ boots.
Fucking Pats. Easley may never be a superstar but he is going to start for 10 years.
ETA: third best QB career or third best career overall?
I saw him play in person last year against Mizzou. Was not impressed at all. Hope for Cleveland’s sake he is at least decent.
Here it is for the Niners…
Marquis Lee? another USC/49er WR bust?
Dallas did something similar in '89 (Aikman and Walsh)
Walsh was a supplemental pick.
ETA: If the Seahawks get Marquise Lee I will riot. He’s not the typical USC receiver. He’s going to be a star.
Any chance a team adopts a 2 Qb offense in the future? Where you have your typical passing Qb, and then the “joker” type playing all over the field worth the ability to run or catch a lateral and throw a pass down field.
Better yet, drafting a QB the year before. I really dislike the tendency to start rookie QB’s rather than letting them learn the position. Brees sat for a year. Brady sat for year. Rodgers sat for 3. The fact that Peyton Manning started year one seems to indicate everyone should, but he’s Peyton fucking Manning. More than any other position in the NFL, QB’s need to be developed, and I don’t think the best way to do that is to throw them into the games right away.
Who? I didn’t scout safeties. Dammit.
Love the Niner’s Ward pick
When I see Manziel I have to wonder how he will fit in games between the King and Opilio seasons.
I don’t know Easley from a hole in the wall (and I don’t know many holes in walls in case you were wondering), but his NFL grade (5.3) is miles lower than even the biggest reach so far (Ja Wuan James at 5.7). I tire of the “Patriots are great drafters” canard.
Exactly why I said “similar” :). Worried someone would come in and do exactly what you did.
Andrew Luck started right away. Matt Ryan started right away. Eli Manning basically started right away. I don’t think it really makes that much difference.
ETA: I don’t think the Pats are great drafters. I think Easley is an exception. He’s heavily downgraded because of an ACL injury, but if not for that he’d have been a top ten pick. He almost singlehandedly kept the Gators from being run over last season.
Tom Brady in the 7th is the most prescient pick of all time!
Well, Cleveland spent the Trent Richardson pick on Johnny Manziel and significantly upgraded the running back position.
Cleveland got a first rounder for Trent Richardson. And one for moving down 5 spots in the draft. That’s some value.
Good for the Vikings, getting Bridgewater.
Very much like that spot for him.
The shock has worn off and I’ve stopped drinking battery acid. NFLN’s Daniel Jeremiah said in April that Smith wouldn’t last beyond #35 based on a couple GMs he spoke with. Not only that, but mock drafts are stupid and it’s stupid to hate a pick based on “value” according to mock drafts. I like Smith quite a bit and he plays one of the most important roles, which also happens to be the shallowest. I can live with it. Maybe a reach, that’s okay.
I guess what’s frustrating is that it doesn’t seem like a BPA pick, which is what the Eagles were so well positioned to do. They haven’t had much luck drafting for need over the last several years.
Ok, so the Browns drafted Bo Callahan, uh, Johnny Manziel and many of their fans are giddy like children on Christmas Eve, and as excited and hopeful as if they just finished watching Draft Day. But the Browns still suck. They could have drafted Peyton Luck and they’d still suck. They do suck a bit less, I’ll allow.
