2014 NFL Draft

Eat a dick.

Because losing your #1, top 5, center of the offense wide receiver and your #2 WR on a depleted WR corps less than 24 hours after the only good day you’ve had as a football fan in about 5 years totally isn’t worth feeling shitty over.

Because he’s really fucking fast. Bell averaged a horrible 3.5 ypc last year (should I remind you that they picked him over the rookie of the year Eddie Lacy?), and they need someone who can get to the hole before the next ice age.

Again, your team has maneuvered well in this draft and took advantage of stupid teams and gained draft picks, including a first rounder next year, while not costing themselves much of anything. And here you are whining because an old, slow third wide receiver breaks his arm but will be ready by camp? I know as a Browns fan it’s tough, but look on the bright side.

And I’d feel worse for you about Josh Gordon if it wasn’t his own damn choice, if we didn’t see this coming a mile away, and if you didn’t crow about the bastard every chance you got.

CALLED IT! I win the internet.

Oh, I’m sorry, was I supposed to be over the fact that they just lost the best player on the team for what is likely an entire year? I mean, yes, it’s been 4 whole hours.

And on top of that, a couple of hours later after that, after the Browns are short on WR talent, the #2 breaks his arm.

Yeah, no, I should be ecstatic.

No, you don’t need to remind me about Eddie Lacy, or how Bell played last year. I am giving him the benefit of the doubt, however, because he seemed to play better toward the end of the year, and all I have done for years is bitch about Tomlin’s picks, and I would like to be a little bit positive. What scares me about Bell is that he was used a ton (and maybe used up) in college.

And yeah, dre is really fast, but he fumbles a lot. And that’s not a good trait for a guy they might want to use in the return game.

They could have picked up a RB later.
He is supposedly similar to Darren Sproles, which would be great, except I don’t think the Steelers can use a Darren Sproles correctly.

Maybe they are changing their offensive philosophy. So far, I am not happy. I will do some research on this guy, because I know nothing about him other than where he went to school.

Not a pick I could say I was rooting for but the Steeler RB coach said they had him clocked at sub 4.2 when they met him. Haley has always done well with this type of player. I was hoping for a corner but I guess three D picks in a row wasn’t likely.

I’m not arguing with you, but who has Haley done anything with that reminds you of this guy?

I can’t think of anyone that fits this mold in Haley’s history.

Not in Pittsburgh, when he was with KC he had a couple. With Pittsburgh they tried Rainey and Stephens-Howling and between character issues and injury it didn’t pay off.
But I don’t know much about offensive guys so I’ll reserve judgment a bit on this guy. I hope they find a way to fit him in. 20 reps on the Bench Press though, now THAT makes him sound like my kind of guy!

Exactly! You have to take a hard line against recreational drug use because it’s a serious issue. Unlike domestic abuse or drunk driving. You’re right that Gordon is stupid to smoke pot when he’s already been caught doing it and knew he was facing a long, expensive suspension. But let’s not make it sound like marijuana testing does a whole lot of good for the NFL. Out of the major sports leagues, the NFL is by far the least interested in what people think of it.

This is a warning for you, as you should know very well by now to take insults to the Pit.
Don’t make another post like this outside of the Pit again.

Watching tape of Davonte Adams for the Packers, I realized that I don’t like Derek Carr at all. Easily flustered, inconsistent accuracy and grossly inflated stats do not a QB make. He clearly has the physical tools, but he’s clearly a developmental player.

But I do like Davante Adams. He really needs to work on his blocking, and his routes need to be crisper, but there is a lot to like.

You should take away a 6th round pick, too.

His mocking my misfortune in a pretty nasty way wasn’t an insult, but what I said was? Because I dropped the semi-naughty d-word? FFS, a full on warning for thar shit, not even a note.

The 49ers finally get around to taking a wide receiver, and they pick one I haven’t watched. I have read a scouting report on Bruce Ellington, and I’m not mad, just disappointed I don’t know the guy better already.

So apparently the news about Josh Gordon’s failed test was told only to the GM and ownership a few months back. Who at the time was Lombardi. He leaked it after a day of excitement and positive vibes for the Browns just to be vindictive.

The Browns are apparently aggressively not addressing the WR position. Ellington was the best of the remaining bunch and they traded away the pick. I can only hope that maybe they know Gordon’s appeal has some merit.

The Bears just grabbed Ka’Deem Carey, RB out of Arizona. He was hugely productive in college and has a great highlight reel. The Bears do need a succession plan for Forte so I’m fully in support of drafting a RB and Carey has the looks of a guy who can be a feature back some day.

But the off the field issues and 4.7 40 time are glaring red flags. Would have rather had Desir here but he’s still on the board so maybe we can land him still.
