A year from now, few people will remember who played. Guaranteed.
He also said that he’s going to drink a lot of Budweiser.
Peyton “I’ll Advertise Anything” Manning keeps his product-whoring MVP status intact.
For MVP status, he’d have replied Drink A Lot Of Budweiser to the Nationwide tune.
At least that would have had the virtue of being witty.
According to one of the commenters on a Deadspin article, he actually managed to work two product placements into his post-game interviews. I only noticed one, but i don’t really pay too much attention to the post-game stuff.
Ben Roethlisberger won Super Bowl XL with a rating of 22.6. So, no.
Well, they showed something while Lynn Swann was carrying the Vince McMahon - er, Steve “Brooklyn Brawler” Lombardi - Steve McMahon? No, that doesn’t sound right - Vince Lombardi Trophy to the stage; they cut away to a shot of the crowd in the stands (and it might have been from earlier in the day) for about a second, and cut audio for about three.
Ok, but in that game, the losing QB had a higher rating. Something like 67.8. In this game, the losing QB had a lower rating. Like by 1.2 rating points.
I’ve never seen a team play a worse Super Bowl than the Panthers just did.
I wouldn’t go that far.
They looked bad on offense, but that was, in considerable measure, a product of the incredible Denver defense. And the Carolina defense played pretty damn well for most of the game.
Worse than the Broncos two years ago?
Worse than the Bills in SB 27, who had NINE turnovers?
Worse than the Broncos team that lost by 45 points to the 49ers?
There were several teams that were literally not in contention for more than a couple of series in their Super Bowl losses. The Panthers didn’t play well, but they were still within one score late in the 4th quarter. Those other teams, along with a few other overmatched teams, totally shit the bed.
Denver was the “home” team, but the opted to wear white. Of the last twelve SBs, only the Packers succeeding in winning in colors. The Broncos knew the Panthers wanted to wear white for luck, so they played the color-hand.
This is threadshitting and normally I don’t give a warning for it, but you’re coming dangerously close to getting one, because you already have been warned over the content of your posts many times recently…
So while this will still be a note this time, the next time will be another warning and probably a suspension. If you don’t like a subject that has a topic that is “Hey, let’s talk about x”, you are not required to post in it.
Yeah, I, too, will disagree. Their defense played a good (but not great) game, and their offense wasn’t bad at all if you allow for the fact that that that they were playing against the best defense in the league. Newton had a handful of easy-to-spot inaccurate passes to open receivers, but otherwise that was a perfectly credible performance against an elite opponent.
The only Super Bowl losers to turn around and win it the next year were the '72 Cowboys, and '73 Dolphins.
That said, both this years Broncos and last yeas Pats were teams that won the Bowl 2-3 years after losing it.
In other words, i agree with you, but it will take at least 2 seasons.
There were a few technical issues during the game #YOUHADONEJOB
Not good.
But if it weren’t for Manning and the culture he brought to the franchise, they wouldn’t have even made it here in the first place.
He’s the only athlete in history to pimp a product for cash.
Ever watch NASCAR?
it’s unfair that they made Philly Brown leave the game because of the concussion protocol
the Super Bowl is too important. It’s the last game of the season. they ought to relax the rules. The glory from winning the Super Bowl is worth getting brain damage
Never suggested any such thing. Just that he, among footballers at least, seems to pimp just about anything. Also, it’s pretty unusual to see a player pimping products in a post-game interview. Budweiser and Papa John’s received about equal billing in his interview with his wife and kids.
I thought about it once, but poking my eyes out with hot knives seemed like a better use of my time.
