2016 Super Bowl

I get the distinction that you’re making, but I don’t remember Nantz putting it that way. And Ditka did win an NFL Championship as a player with the Bears in 1963, before the Super Bowl era but still…

Kubiak was a coach on those Broncos teams. He never won a SB as a player.

Irrationality in a thread about sports? Say it ain’t so!

Did they say that about Marino?

Well I think no one thought that Peyton was anything other than a rube, so his love for Budweiser fits. Personality-wise, he’s basically a more intelligent Terry Bradshaw.

Yes. But Marino deliberately sabotaged the Dolphins’ personnel plans in order to ensure they remained a heavy passing team (in an era where a strong running game was basically a necessity for championship teams). Cam’s not that stupid.

Well, your data sample isn’t super convincing. You don’t know.

The Panthers are, let’s put it this way, as likely as anyone in the NFL to win the Super Bowl. That means they have a pretty good chance but it’s no guarantee. NO team is guaranteed to win the Super Bowl, no matter what they did this year, but only the really bad teams (which Carolina isn’t one of) are guaranteed to not win it.

I don’t think that’s quite true in general. Both Super Bowl teams are more likely to have players sniped in free agency, particularly those who were viewed as key to their success this year. That said, the Panthers seem to have all their key players locked up through the next free agency period except Josh Norman, and have a decent amount of cap room.

“I’m going to kiss my wife and then drink a lot of Budweiser. That’s Budweiser. B-U-D…”
Jesus Manning, this isn’t Nascar.
Maybe he thought since he’s retiring he’s going to need a lot more endorsement money and figured he’s start fishing for sponsors immediately.

I’ve never seen a single post-event interview where somebody has said that. Only in the Disney commercials that were filmed at the end of the games.

Sorry for the tangent, but now I’m currious. I don’t watch NASCAR. Do the drivers talk about how much they love Ford cars, or is more unrelated (like Manning’s beer) “After a race like this, I’m craving a Big Mac”

No, but they make certain to drop in mentions of their team’s sponsors as often as possible. “My crew was great, they had the McDonald’s car ready to go today.”

Just ask Jeff Foxworthy.

Yep, it’s almost comical. When the winner pulls into winner’s circle he has to wait till he’s cued to get out his car and then has to immediately open a sponsored beverage and take a big swig of it. They then thank a lot of their sponsors and refer to their car as the “Geico Chevy” or “M&Ms Ford”. Meanwhile a female model stands directly behind them in another sponsor’s jumpsuit.

Yeah, it’s a little like being from French Lick, Indiana. Which he isn’t. Larry Bird stole my Cheetos!

This is THE FUNNIEST reaction to the Panthers loss! I can’t stop watching and laughing at this!

Whooo! Hope the man doesn’t own lots of guns. Even if it’s faked, I love it.

And I was waaaaay off on my prediction. I thought it’d be Panthers by at least ten points. Anything can happen.

It IS faked, and it’s idiotic.

When you get to the end, YouTube offers a whole bunch of equally stupid “angry grandpa” videos, most featuring the same guy.

They should do one with his press conference. That’d be funnier! The other ones they feature weren’t very good.

After falling on his butt in front of the announcers, will Talib have to be subjected to concussion protocol?

Yes. Sadly this game was a bit of a flashback to the dolphin 49er Super Bowl.

Mr Newton does have one thing in his skill set that mr Marino did not have. Mr Newton appears to be able to run a bit faster than mr Marino, really just run at all.
I’ll never forget watching in hopeful horrour the one time i remember him running in a touchdown. It was sooooooo scary and slow. “Oh noooooo, he’s running. What is he doing, nooooo.” Thankfully he crossed the line with the football and dolfans could breath once more.
