2017 PGA Majors Champions

Sergio Garcia, Brooks Koepka, Jordan Spieth and Justin Thomas have what in common?

Other than obvious answers like, they all play golf, won majors or dress funny, can you guess what it is?

Both have six letters in each of their first and last names?

yep

Thank you! I have memorized the winners of every major since 1997, and every year I try to come up with some kind of theme for keeping them all straight. I was just struggling with a theme for this year, but the best I could do was “all first-timers and one buddy.” I didn’t even notice the 6 and 6 thing.

Props to Justin Thomas on winning yesterday. On a day when no one else among the leaders was keeping his cool, Thomas managed to wiggle out of trouble regularly, and made some pretty amazing shots as well. His tee shot on 17 was the ONLY shot I saw yesterday that wasn’t directed intentionally at the right side of the green. The other competitors weren’t even MISSING their shots to the middle of the green. He slotted his to 15 feet. Deserved win.

There’s currently only 4 players under 40 who have more than one major: Spieth, McIlroy, Martin Kaymer, and Bubba Watson (who is 38). This may be historically unusual.

Who are four people who’ve never been in my kitchen.
