2020 US Presidential election

Dwayne (The Rock) Johnson has officially filed with the Federal Election Commission as a candidate for President of the United States.

It isn’t clear that he has endorsed the campaign as of yet, though he has talked about running in the past.

We could do worse - and we often have.

I’m deeply impressed with John Cena after this, too. Maybe they could form a ticket.

So in other words , Dwayne hasn’t officially filed with the FEC.

Another impressive fact about Cena: he has done more work with the Make-a-Wish Foundation than any other celebrity.

I hate to break it to you guys but even if we changed the Constitution so that only WWE alumni who’ve done charitable work are eligible for President, Trump could still run.

Is it charitable work if you keep all the money yourself?

I don’t know. Trump would have to actually provide proof of his charitable work in that scenario and his claims in that area look as fraudulent as most of his other claims.

What charitable work has he done?

Charity begins at home.

I do still hold out hope that some feasible third party option will happen for the 2020 election. And it almost certainly has to be built around someone well known, charismatic, and intelligent. And among the possible options who could possibly fit the bill, that I can see, the Rock isn’t that bad of a choice, all in all.

Rocky’s clearly an intelligent guy, and he has his own following, but I have a great deal of trouble taking him seriously as a Presidential candidate. It would give all-new meaning to “The Public Elbow,” though.

Having said that, I’d vote for him over Trump, but I’m known to say I’d vote for Mickey Mouse over Trump.

Johnson is following in a long line of actors who became American politicians: Eastwood, Arnie, Reagan, Ventura, Bono, Franken…

Based on my reading of the article, it was actually just some random dude who filed for Dwayne Johnson to be a candidate. Johnson himself didn’t do anything.

How do you envision a 3d party presidential candidate being “feasible”? Instead, the history is of a 3d party sucking votes from the more closely aligned of the 2 majors.

Only one of whom reached the lofty height of the Presidency, and he’d been President of SAG and Governor of CA before that. (I still have hopes for Franken, but I’m not confident.)

I’m not sure what the source of the votes has to do with the feasibility of the party or candidate.

I thought he was running with Tom Hanks.

I can’t see that, they want me to remove my adblock, and I won’t do it.
