2020 Virtual convention thread

Why? It’s always the same bullshit. They never tire of it. They’ll listen to it all again tomorrow night and pretend he’s saying something new, bold and true.

As I recall, they both kind of liked her.

He could recite the alphabet (if indeed he can) and they’d think they were hearing a combination of the beatitudes and the Gettysburg Address.

Doubtful… sooo many letters, about 20 or more (I think).

Last week, Joy Reid of MSNBC said the Democratic convention was better because they had better singers. Kindof superficial, yeah? Honetly, I care about America and I don’t want another shutdown And I am pro life. So I am not going to waste my ote this time for my party (Libertarian) and will vote Trump Pence. Go ahead and insult me, I expect the left to not address issues and only give personal snides. Maybe I will be surprised.

Probably not. I doubt if you will get any surprises.

I am curious whether you feel any responsibility to represent what people say accurately.

Is the Libertarian party pro-life? I don’t recall that. So I googled:

The official position of the United States Libertarian Party is unconditionally pro-choice, admitting no legal restriction on abortion for any reason, by any method, or at any stage of gestation. Its 2012 political platform states, "Recognizing that abortion is a sensitive issue and that people can hold good-faith views on all sides, we believe that government should be kept out of the matter, leaving the question to each person for their conscientious consideration.

You don’t want another shutdown? Didn’t Trump shut down the government several times?

You care about America? Yet you support Trump/Pence?

Wait-was that the roll call? They managed to strip all of the excitement out of having it in person (seeing each state delegates, the cheering, the cheesy signs etc) by having one person from each state speaking straight into camera in front of the same background. Or are they planning to do it again during prime time? I can’t believe that seeing what the Democratic party did a week ago that they can’t at least do it remotely from each state. Maybe Rhode Island ran out of calamari?

How about the issue of Trump’s administration deciding to deliberately separate children from their parents, some of whom were subsequently “lost” in the system and will never see their parents again, in order to try and deter migration? Maybe that’s the kind of issue you support. If so, you’re voting for the right candidate.

Yet you plan to vote for someone who only cares about himself and how many votes he can get.

:man_facepalming:

You mean like how you just insulted everyone on “the left”? Was that just a pre-emptive retaliatory swipe?

We don’t have great choices, do we? Even Trump said this morn that Bernie got screwed.

And yet one of the choices made the decision to harm migrant children for life on purpose. And praise white nationalists; spend years spreading a racist, evidence free conspiracy theory; obfuscated science leading to tens of thousands of deaths during the pandemic; and much more. That’s the one you’re voting for.

Even Trump, oh my.

A decent, experienced, and competent politician is indeed a great choice when running against Trump.

2016 wants its Russian talking point back.

I’m not sure how MSNBC could compare the Democratic convention – on any point of comparison – to an event that hadn’t happened yet, and for which the schedule had not even been released. But don’t let facts and logic get in your way.

I thought so too, but I think it was the nomination, officially putting Trump’s name forward. The roll call vote should be Wednesday, if they’re following the normal script.

Is there going to be coverage all day every day for four days?
