2022 NBA Playoffs Thread

Thanks for that summary.
As a Bucks fan, I’m sorry they didn’t make it further, but — like you — I’m excited by this Celtics team, and I guess I’ll be rooting for them.

The Warriors ousted the Mavericks in 5 games, advancing to their sixth NBA Finals in the last eight years.

They will battle the winner of Boston/Miami, which has gone the distance. Game 7, Sunday at 8:30 Eastern.

This is one of those strange series, in which the visiting team has won more games than the home team. Each team has one home win and two road wins. I wonder which team the ‘smart money’ will bet on tomorrow.

Regardless of who wins on Sunday, the Warriors will host the first two games of the finals, which start on Thursday.

The Celtics almost had one of the all-time biggest choke jobs in playoff history, but Jimmy Butler’s go-ahead three bounced out, and the Celtics are headed to their first NBA Finals in 12 years, and 22nd NBA Finals overall.

And we’re down to two. Will the Warriors resume their championship dynasty? Or will the Celtics win their 18th championship?

I’m still predicting the Warriors take it in 7, but I’d like to see Boston beat them.

This will be the fifth playoff series between these two teams, and the second since the Warriors moved to the Bay Area. Boston has won all four series between these two teams so far, most recently in the 1964 NBA Finals against a Wilt Chamberlain-led team.

Al Horford played 15 seasons and 141 playoff games before making his first NBA Finals-- an NBA record that has now been broken.

It’s been a good playoff. Once the Bucks went down there were no teams left I actively dislike. Looking forward to the Finals, should be a good series. I’m slightly rooting for Boston because they have ex-Duck Payton Pritchard , but would be happy to see the Warriors win again.

I guess I’m cheering for the Warriors, since I’d like to see them win another title without Durant, but a Boston win would sure be a good run. Going through Nets - Bucks - Heat - Warriors would be impressive to say the least.

Wow, what a game! This is going to be a great series.

40 points in the fourth quarter for the Celtics. That’s insane.

Jumping in to bump this thread. The Celtics ruled almost the entire game 3 tonight. The Warriors aren’t tall enough to match up against Boston. If the Curry injury is serious, it’s doubtful Golden State can come back.

But it’s only 2-1 Boston now. It’s far from over. So far. We’ll see what happens on Friday night.

Steph Curry scored 43 points to help the Warriors tie the series 2-2 and send it back to San Francisco with reclaimed home-court advantage.

So, he may have been injured, but clearly…

This was a gut check win for Golden State tonight. Before the final five minutes they were throwing everything they had at Boston, and the Celtics usually maintained a 5-7 point lead. The Warriors were often frustrated and they let it show. When a team does that it gives the other team strength. Even when Golden State would have a lead before the end of the fourth period, they looked like a defeated team.

Steph Curry put this team on his shoulders tonight. For the Warriors to win this series they need others to step up in support. Especially Klay, Poole, and Green.

This is one mean dog fight of a series.

Agree with @Bullitt. With 5 minutes left, I thought Boston was going to win the game. Instead, the Warriors got a couple of baskets following offensive rebounds, and then the Celtics went a bit brain-dead. Down 3 with about 4 minutes to go, they missed 4 straight 3-pointers.

Andrew Wiggins was, once again, the x-factor for Golden State last night. 17 points and 16 boards.

The Denver Nuggets have traded JaMychal Green and a protected 2027 first-round pick to the Oklahoma City Thunder in exchange for the 30th pick in this year’s draft, and second-round picks in '23 and '24.

The Thunder still have the 2nd, 12th, and 34th picks in this year’s draft, and the Nuggets now have the 21st and 30th.

Series tied 2-2. Browsing Zach Low - aggregate score 422-421, Warriors. Exactly 64 3’s per team. GSW +1 rebound, -1 turnover. Boston +7 free throws.

This is one close series :astonished:.

This stat, quite frankly, surprises me. I thought that Boston would have a clear edge in total rebounds.

Do you have the breakdown of offensive vs defensive rebounds?

I don’t have a breakdown; I know you’re not asking me, but Andrew Wiggins in game 4 was a monster on the boards. He grabbed 16 rebounds.

But you’re right this is a surprising result. Boston is bigger and more physical.

Great point about Wiggins in game 4. But it certainly seems to me that Boston has gotten a ton of offensive rebounds which lead to second and third opportunities.

Looking forward to tonight.
