I know someone who is remaining silent…
No mention of George Crumb?
I performed his Star Child some years ago as part of the male chorus. The piece is a freaking logistical nightmare for a conductor with multiple ensembles doing multiple things in multiple time signatures from multiple locations, but the overall effect if pulled off is amazing.
George Crumb was mentioned in Post #390.
P.J O’Rourke dead at 74.
Dammit, he was the only Republican Iiked. I loved him on Wait Wait Don’t Tell Me.
I knew him best as Mike Tandino in Beverly Hills Cop. He always seemed like a lovable rogue.
Wow. Can’t believe that I got him confused with James Russo, who played Mike Tandino.
.Congressman Jim Hagedorn (R-Minnesota) has died at 59.
My former rep. Will leave my comments in P&E
Brian
Leo Fong died today at age 93.
I think without RedLetterMedia’s Best of the Worst show, he would have died to no wide notice. But they discovered(re-discovered?) his movies, which were really bad in many ways, but hilarious in their own ways.
An Asian-American directing and starring in his own NOT martial-arts movies in the 1980’s. He played cops and stuff, nothing particularly Asian in most of the movies I have seen.
I heard he was also friends with Bruce Lee at one point.
