I’m sure there will be no controversy over this list (the good news is that it isn’t one of those damnable slide shows)
I’ve seen about half of the movies on the list.

Cool. I like lists that give me something I haven’t seen before.
I like that Daisies was on the list. I don’t know anyone else who’s seen it, but I loved it.
I like how Meshes of the Afternoon was described. It’s a movie that transports me back to my earliest memories.
So surely mostly of you have seen the Number 1 film on that list (one I’ve never heard of):
Jeanne Dielman 23, quai du Commerce, 1080 Bruxelles (1975)
No King Kong (1933)? No kaiju at all! Fuck that shit!
While there are many choices here I might agree or disagree with, I personally subscribe to the notion that any “Greatest Films of All Time” list that includes Celine and Julie Go Boating automatically disqualifies itself from serious consideration.
So happy to see Tati’s Playtime on the list. I’m ready to see it again right now. (And Tati for best actor too!)
Did you know there is a statue of Tati and Dacky in Paris?
No “Chinatown.”
Me either. Never seen it. Never heard of it.
No Pulp Fiction?
Godfather makes it to #12, but Godfather Part II, a better film, isn’t even on the list?
I would guess they have a maximum of one film per series: are there are any other similar situations on the list?
Sure; e.g. they only list Pather Panchali rather than the entire trilogy.
Barry Lyndon? Come on. I mean, I have only seen a small fragment, which was enough to convince that I did not want to see all of it. Beautifully filmed, yes, but is that enough?
Yes, that made me very happy as well. The first time I saw it I had the good fortune to view a new 70mm print of it. It was a delight.
A lot of films I’m very happy to see on that list (The General & Sherlock Jr.!) even if there is nothing by Jean-Pierre Melville. I was surprised how many I’ve actually seen too.
You might like the Director’s Poll of the 100 Greatest Films which has both:
This seems to have more well known films than the Critics List.
I have seen exactly 1 1/2 of these films. I’m not sure if that makes me uncultured swine or if it means the critics are out of touch with popular film.
I like the director’s list better.
And you’d be wrong.

I was all set to come in here and flaunt that I have seen most of them, but alas, I’ve only seen 33 of the 100.
This is good new though. There is much still to be explored.
Happy to see Get Out and Rear Window on there.
My list would include Pulp Fiction, Schindler’s List, To Kill a Mockingbird, 12 Angry Men, and The Last Picture Show.
mmm
Seen about half of the Directors List. They are the pros but Vertigo? Not even close to The Red Pony for anxiety producing suspense. I agree with Mean_Mr.Mustards’ list and would add Twelve O’Clock High and Triumph of the Will.
