2022 US Senate Races

They will not. Because the most important change that a one-seat Republican majority will effect is that it will make Mitch McConnell Majority Leader. And he alone will decide if and when any Biden nominee is allowed to come up for a vote.

No. Susan Collins will vote for a Republican for Majority Leader, and the Majority decides (for the most part) what things get a vote. Even if Susan Collins votes D once in a while, it will still be nothing like the Dems having a majority.

And no way Biden gets to pick a SCOTUS justice. They’ll delay for two years.

The 4-way RCV that Alaska has strongly favors Murkowski. The reason is that if the Dem candidate is eliminated, pretty much all their 2nd choice votes will go to her.

I think you mean “any judge” here. There is no cost to them to just ignore all Biden’s judicial appointments across the board, and they have seen the benefit of packing courts at every level.

I think that you’re right. The lame duck Senate needs to jam everything through that they can.

Looks like final round polling is widening with a roughly 55/45 split in favor of Murkowski. So she is solidly in the lead although bigger upsets have happened.

In the polls I’ve been looking at (mostly linked from 538) Tshibaka maintains a surprising amount of ground after Chesbro (the dem) drops. Maybe its chaos voters? Or people who don’t actually fill in their 2 and 3 choices. Also possible polling isn’t capturing voter ranked choice behavior optimally. I guess we’ll find out shortly.

Um… yikes.

But I think it’s pretty likely that mail in voting is more popular in 2022 than it was in 2018. Once you try mail in voting, as many did in 2020, I can see how it might be more appealing than standing in line for hours to many people.

First results are coming in from KY and IN. I like the simple graphics on yahoo

IN and SC called for the GOP. No surprise.

A wipeout of psycho democrats is needed to save democracy and the country

KY called for the GOP

Disappointing as always, but not a surprise.

Is Warnock really stomping Warner in Georgia? 57:41 with 29% of polls reporting. Or is this just the early mail votes being counted? Or does Georgia count advanced polls last? It’s so confusing.

More votes are going to shift the race more toward Republicans, I think. But Warnock is doing well.

Watch Kornacki. He explains it all so well!

Per one of the CNN Decision Desk guys (not John King or Jake Tapper) they’re saying it’s 99% early voting and mail-in, and they expect that (early vote and mail-in) to comprise 61% of the overall total vote when it’s all said and done. So expect these margins to narrow significantly.

Man, Florida is really really red. I spent my first 15 years there and I don’t remember it being that way. I suppose I was just too young to realize it.

Kentucky, what the hell do you people like about Rand Paul?

I’m getting very depressed already.

Florida is very heavily gerrymandered. Desantis made sure the new districts skewed republican.
