2023 Oscars

I found her really annoying in BCS, because she was so effective. I had NO idea that wasn’t her real accent!

I had no idea that Michelle Yeoh is married to former Ferrari F1 boss Jean Todt. No reason I should have known, I guess, but it was a surprise to see him with her.

Well, I certainly hope that you didn’t put any money down on those odds. I do love it when someone is genuinely surprised at this, which happens less and less.

Oh I didn’t bet on this year’s awards at all.

Ke Huy Quan wins Best Supporting Actor for “Everything Everywhere All At Once.”

Jamie Lee Curtis Best Supporting Actress for “Everything Everywhere All At Once.”

Both actors won in their first nomination.

I’m happy with both of those wins, as I have fond memories of their performances in previous films.

Also, “Pinocchio” won Best Animated Feature.

This was “Guillermo Del Toro’s Pinocchio.” as distinct from the live action “Pinocchio” which was also a 2022 film and was apparently horrible.

I really thought Angela Bassett was a lock.

You know, for a show constantly criticized for its length, putting in self-congratulatory musical numbers with no connection to any awards category is a bit head-scratching.

Are we setting up for every oscar, everywhere, over roughly the next 3 hours?

I’m thrilled for both Supporting Acting wins.

Nobody likes them. I don’t get it at all. Maybe the people THERE enjoy them but the audience at home does not.

Well, I’m halfway through EEAAO. It’s interesting, but all the slapstick kung fu is just painful to sit through.

OK, but have you reached the slapdick kung fu yet…

Documentary: Navalny.
Timely, of course.

I think I totally missed it, what music was done it wasn’t part of a category?

Are you referring to the performance of one of the songs nominated for Best Original Song?

Did Naatu Naatu get sung yet? I want to see it so bad.

I think only Applause from Tell It Like a Woman has been performed so far.

I thought Stephanie Hsu’s performance was the more technically impressive, but I’m thrilled for JLC. That part was just so much fun, and she nailed it.
