I don’t disagree so far as it goes, but I’m near the end now, and I’ve seen about 20 minutes of acting padded out with about 300 stupid fight scenes that so far as I can tell could have been played in any order without making much difference.
A lot of people around here rave how it is the most hilarious thing they’ve seen. I don’t get it.
Those ads announced from stage are wild - really blurring between the show and advertising.
I left my wife to watch the rest alone (well, with the dog!). I have a Wendell Berry book I’m in the middle of…
I think I would have voted for Angela Bassett, just because she provided an indelible performance and such a performance is just a typical performance for her.
Burt frankly, I don’t think there was a clunker in the nominee’s list.
There’s a reason for that.
Okay, now plugging the Academy’s museum. At least that’s somewhat appropriate, IMHO.
All Quiet… gets the International Feature Film Oscar.
I was tremendously impressed by All Quiet and all the work that had to go into making it.
Who would have expected that from a movie titled Everything Everywhere All At Once?
We liked EEAAO, but after the two-hour mark it became rather tiresome. It would have been a much better film, and lost nothing significant, if it had been cut by half an hour.
Well at least now I know what to expect when I watch Triangle of Sadness.
Yaaaay for the boy, the mole etc! So soothing to see/listen to,
I’ve heard quite a few critics bring up an apparent trend towards big features running long.
I’ll just say that I started watching it quite some time ago and quickly abandoned it. I may venture into it again but I doubt it will win me over. Based on all the hype, I expect it get Best Picture. I’m actually disappointed in this year’s BP nominees. My favourite among them is Elvis, which I suspect will be largely or entirely ignored among all the awards.
Actually, that’s another good one among the Best Picture nominees. And won’t win.
Keep an eye on Best Actor. It’s considered a three way race, with Austin Butler in the mix.
I also was very impressed with Elvis, and Austin Butler’s performance. A much more enjoyable and entertaining movie than I was expecting.
So far I would have won a lot of money if I bet on the major categories. Each one I picked so far has won.
He richly deserves it.
Lady Gaga goes for a straight non-glam performance.
I just tuned in. Was that the glitzless Lady Gaga singing that Top Gun song? I’m going to guess it was. I only really recognized her from her nose. Anyway, I thought she looked and sounded amazing.
Man, Elizabeth Banks sounds terrible. Hope she just has a sore throat and isn’t really sick or anything.
