Ryan Minor, former MLB infielder, died of cancer at age 49. Minor had a brief and rather unremarkable career, except that he was the guy that started in place of Cal Ripken on September 20, 1998, thus ending Ripken’s consecutive games streak. Minor started at third base that day, which was the first time in his career that he started at that position.
