Love the Onion, but what was announced was that he would stop pursuing active treatment. My mother did that in October 2004 and she lived until April 2005. Her oncologist said that the lack of stress on her might have allowed her to live longer than if she had thrown everything at the cancer. After all, chemotherapy is poison, hopefully it kills the cancer before killing the patient.
