2023 SDMB Celebrity Death Pool

Her face looked slightly/oddly skewed to me, almost like someone who’s had a stroke. She also looks older than I would have thought she’d look, but everyone ages differently, so that’s neither here nor there.

needs more teeth

I saw that… It looked the way my face does when my jaw is numb for dental work.

I knew Bruce Willis was in bad shape but this article still came as a shock.

You are assuming that she made lots of money, maybe not as much as you think or she did but squandered it away or made bad investments. Maybe she does have more money than most but she doesn’t believe in insurance. My understanding of the American health and insurance system, she may have been screwed by her insurance refusing to pay.

She’s 6 years younger than me. She looks like most women at that age. Sure, there’s some that look better but most have more of a Retton look. I’d still date her, based on this video although not a good fit I think reading her political views I see on her Wiki page.

Her smile was always a bit skewed.

How kind of you…

Dementia sucks. That’s all there is to it. It robs you and your loved ones of your very self, even as your body lives on.

Florine Mark no longer dieting.

I do not believe this is quite correct. Your self remains your self regardless of how well or poorly your mind functions. Dementia creates barriers between you and your loved ones, between you and reality, but does not make the inner you cease to exist. My brother had a stroke which left him mostly inarticulate and illiterate, but he understands speech and he is definitely still in there (being unable to read and write would drive me nuts).

First thing: a stroke is different from what we generally characterize as dementia.

Second: no one has reported back to say for sure whether the changes of that inner person are so drastic as to amount to a loss of the self as it was. But from the outside, it can certainly appear that way. When people who’ve never bitten anyone since childhood (if then) start biting people who are trying to assist them, something very different is going on in there.

Certainly it is accurate that the loved ones are deprived of the person they knew. I’ll concede that the extent to which the person inside is the same person is unknowable. The best we can do is gauge by changes in behavior.

Strange coincidence. Just 2 days ago in this thread when I was commenting on people who are poor and famous I was going to comment about Mark Goddard. Now I don’t know if he was poor. I do know that I saw him at the tiny mall I grew up near. In the 80s they would have a comicbook show once a month. One time I saw Mark Goddard sitting at a table to sign autographs. He was all alone. If I was there at my age now I would have gone up to him. Then I was too embarrassed for him.

11 time winner on the PGATour, Andy Bean has died at age 70.

He recently had double {gasp} lung replacement surgery. Covid related

Go to your closet and pray! Praaaay!

I just found out about this. Updates state that she is improving, AND that the crowdfunding site (not GFM) has over $400,000 as of this time.

Another source said that even though she lives in a $2 million house (she and the father of her 4 adult daughters divorced in 2018) the reason she did not have health insurance was (spoilered due to incendiary content) some of the premium money might be used to pay for abortions.

Regardless, I certainly hope for her full recovery.
