Excuse me, but she can raise $1M by selling her $2M house and buying a $1M house. She should do that, and repay all the people who contributed to her crowdfunding.
Around my neighborhood, a two million dollar house may not be all that impressive. I would not even assume it would have more than one level. And quite frankly, the uniquely American condition that forces people to sell all their assets to pay for medical bills is a problem, not we should be encouraging.
Not to mention, it’s all relative. We have no idea the amount of debt they have. And it’s not so easy to pick up and move when you’re so sick that you need hospitalization.
She was a favorite of Joss Whedon working on many of his projects including Firefly which is where I became aware of her. No cause given for her ‘sudden and unexpected’ early death.

And while I agree with you that we shouldn’t be encouraging a situation where people have to sell their assets to pay for medical costs, you still do what you can reasonably do before asking the world to help you out. And making the sacrifice of having a standout house in a good neighborhood, or an average house in an expensive neighborhood, isn’t what I’d call a sacrifice.
Not to mention, according to nearwildheaven, she chose not to have insurance. She put herself in this position, and is asking for others to rescue her while living in a $2M house. So no sympathy.
