2023 SDMB Celebrity Death Pool

Not all that weird. As pointed out, a one in 365 chance. It shouldn’t be a surprise but you’ll find many people having died within 3 days on either side of their birthday.

I have a database of baseball players, 7932 who have died out of 17,000. I would expect 22 to have died on their birthday. There’s actually 31.

Blew out the candles on his cake,
Dropped dead for goodness sake.

See, I knew it!

Mine should be a haiku, I suppose:

Here lies a Doper
Blew out his candles, dropped dead
Now he’s ground Mustard

Not surprising that more die on their birthday than statistically expected. My mother died on her birthday. She was hanging on to be able to share a glass of champagne one last time with her twin sister. She either saw or spoke on the phone to every family and friend that were dear her and by dinner time she had nothing left in the tank.

She partied till she dropped dead. God Bless Her!

Nitpick. First Suzanne Somers, then Jenilee Harrison as Cindy, then Priscilla Barnes.

Sam Neil says his cancer won’t be in remission for long and he’s not afraid of death.

That sounds a bit ominous.

Lance Armstrong has died.

The Aussie politician, not the cyclist.

I hope he is not sharing it with all of us. I definitely do not want any.

The handbasket is coming for me, as my first thought was about making up a list for 2024.

Interestingly, Yootha Joyce, who played Mildred Roper, gave up 47 points in 1980 (liver failure), but the three flatmates are still around, and Brian Murphy, who played George Roper, is currently at 9 points.

I keep a running list starting in January. This year people keep quitting on me before the end of the year.

Joanna Merlin, ‘Fiddler on the Roof’ Actress and Sondheim Casting Director, Dies at 92 (msn.com)

I remember seeing her as a judge on Law and Order.

Yo, this sucks.

I remember seeing him as a pervert on Law and Order.

I’m sure that is how he’d like to be remembered.

As a terrific actor!

He was great. RIP Mr. Young

Young was 83 but he has two movies in production. So he was working right up to the end.

A legend of football, alas, is with us no more
