2023 SDMB Celebrity Death Pool

That’s what I was going to say. I take comfort in all this knowing that if, in some alternate universe, I gave up points to someone for MY death, the thread would go on.

Former NFL player DJ Hayden has died in an automobile accident in Houston that killed 6 people. He was 33.

Imagine my surprise at checking things after a busy weekend to see that I had acquired 94 points on one death. Followed by a bunch of posts tagging me. Glad it got cleared up. And sadly happy to be on the board (top 10 even). A very sad death of someone much too young.

Judge Maryanne Trump Barry, sister of President Voldemort, dead at 86.

Wrong Trump, God!

Maybe she was the soup and salad before the entree.

:joy:
An entree that would make you sick

An entree for Cerberus. He’s got the stomach for it!

At least he didn’t die in a boating accident!

Legendary motorsports broadcaster Ken Squier passed away this morning at 88. It was his call of the first live flag to flag broadcast of the Daytona 500 that took stock car racing to a new level. The end of the race, with the fight between Cale Yarborough and the Allison Brothers, Bobby and Donnie, got everyone’s attention.

Celebrity adjacent. Dana Carvey just announce that his son Dex (who I believe was also a stand up - I could be wrong) died of an accidental drug overdose.

Looks like the tabloids found crappy pictures, so Dana Carvey reacted with this:

Four points incoming?

It would be weird if after all he’s been through, Jimmy Carter outlived Rosalyn.

When one of them goes I expect the other will follow soon.

The historians Will and Ariel Durant died very close together, after a marriage of around seventy years.

Well, when one is 96 and the other is 99, I don’t think it is that far-fetched that one will soon follow the other.

(depending on your definition of “soon”, I guess)

mmm

I had a morbid thought yesterday and this seems like the thread to share it.

The United States and China have both announced plans to send people back to the moon. Depending on which announcement you believe, this will occur some time between 2024 and 2030.

Of the twelve people who have been to the moon, four are still alive. The youngest are 88 years old.

So my thought was wondering if any of them will be alive when a new name gets added to the list. Or will we have a period when no living human being has walked on the moon.

Author A.S. Byatt has died at 87.
