I always think that this time I’m going to be clever and strategic about it. And then I just get depressed about trying to predict who will die imminently for the purposes of gaining a few points in a meaningless internet game, and just make a list of whomever comes immediately to mind. Which is probably why I never do well at this.

Anyway:

Jimmy Carter (President)
Shannen Doherty (Actress)
Tom Baker (Doctor Who actor)
Bruce Willis (actor in the BEST CHRISTMAS FILM EVER)
Dionne Warwick (singer)
Norman Lebrecht (music critic)
Sam Neill (actor/dinosaur nemesis)
Mitch McConnell (politician/part-time turtle)
Geoff Hurst (English footballer)
Prince Edward, Duke of Kent (not to be confused with QEII’s son Prince Edward, current Duke of Edinburgh)
Diana Ross (singer)
Tim Curry (actor/fucking legend)
Linda Ronstadt (singer)

Alternates:

Jeremy Paxman (UK newsreader)
Oleg Makarevich (Russian general in Ukraine)

Figured it wouldn’t hurt to post this again.

Thank you so much. Some people miss things I guess. Next time, for 2025, I will be specific.

Your entry is a perfect example of how I asked folks to be specific about their entries. I’d forgotten there were two Prince Edwards, and you made sure which one you meant. He is pretty old, the Queen’s cousin I think.

I remember when there were two Raul Castros. One was Cuban and one American. And on one of my lists I have a man named James Harrison. He’s an Australian, not the American football player.

@Baker - he has this spelled wrong, in case you didn’t catch it. I’m pulling for your list, @silenus !

I haven’t done this for a couple years so why not again now.

Zahara has died at age 36. I think I read her name on a few lists.

My list for 2024 is 80% the same as last year except for the removal of one celeb that shuffled off, one that has had a “miraculous recovery”, moving DvD to alternate, moving a couple of 2023 alternates to main list and adding Dolph Lundgren.

@BobLibDem If I don’t win next year, I hope you do!

:grinning:

Would you give up winning if it means BobLibDem would?

I tried not to do this, really I did, but my inner pedant won:

*Lauren

That is all.

If you find yourself in need of another name, might I suggest Ted Cruz. If you need two, then second suggestion is Mike Johnson.

Both are sound selections. I could give the Grim Reaper a much longer list than the rules allow.

All my main list were born in 1944, so turn 80 this coming year.

Reprising my list of entertainers over 90 years old, for the seventh time. I helped keep all but two of last year’s aged picks alive for another full year. In 2023, Harry Belafonte and Tony Bennett gave me a few points, but I’m hoping for a low score again this year to avoid losing any more of these great talents. (Well, I wouldn’t be terribly sad to see Clint Eastwood go.)

As always, I’m playing the odds, not going for points. The maximum I could earn, if all of these wonderful actors dropped dead in early January, is 53.

They’re listed in descending age.
