Wow, that sucks. I had no idea Mutombo was I’ll.
Life, and of course death, is completely cruel and unfair. Healthy guy, athlete. Gone so young.

Mutombo and Kristofferson, two people who I admired much more for who they were than what they did for a living (never watched Mutombo play; never listened to much Kristofferson).
At least Kristofferson hit 80+. I mainly remember him from Blade. He popped back to life in Blade 2 even though he dies in Blade 1. It was so weird, but he was a great character, so we didn’t mind.
I remember that Kris Kristoferson supported Sinead after she tore the picture of the Pope. Looking back, she was right. They were hiding a huge scandal of children abuse.

TMZ reporting Pete Rose dead.
The website’s page reporting that now goes to a 404/not found error.
ETA: there’s now a link.
Looks like a couple of players made a good bet on Pete Rose – maybe we should check on what they have been up to lately.
TMZ is my most trusted news source
Uh … yeah:

Never liked the integrity-deficient Mr. Rose, but he did get the tombstone (a.k.a. piledriver) in a chicken suit at Wrestlemania XV. Probably the best thing he ever did, imo.
I didn’t like Rose as a player, a manager, or a person, but he most definitely belongs in the Hall of Fame.
Another notable baseball death, though obviously not as well-known as Rose.
He will be buried in the Pete Rose Memorial Cemetery and Betting Parlor.
Pete Rose was traded to the Angels.
gwendee and Mona Lott had Rose, Mean Mr. Mustard had Mutombo

He of course made a boatload of money in his career, and he chose to spend $24 million of it building a hospital in his native Democratic Republic of the Congo. He also raised another $185 million through his foundation, and the Biamba Marie Mutombo Hospital, named after his mother, opened in 2007. In 2021, he opened a science and technology school named after his father.
It’s good to be reminded that there are some rich pro athletes who use their fortunes to make the world a better place.
If I was rich I always thought I’d like to endow a nursing scholarship named for my mother. It’s how she got through school.
Mutombo sounds as if he was a stand up guy.
