2026 Celebrity Death Pool

Here is a Susan Saint James link.

I’d completely forgotten about Kate & Allie.

mmm

I remember her mainly from McMillan & Wife. (I was a big fan of the Mystery Movie series with its rotating group of shows.) It appears John Shuck is now the sole surviving cast member.

Rats. I seem to have lots of trouble with links in this forum. Thanks for letting me know

I’m from Ellwood City and my mother went to high school with Donnie. He was a few years ahead of her. Heck, since I’m an Italian from Ellwood, I’m probably related to him somehow.

I have friends who went to Blackhawk High with his daughter. Donnie played at their senior prom.

Oh no! I heard Love Is Like a Rock on the radio earlier and thought, that’s nice, they don’t play it much (though I prefer Ah Leah).

I only remember Kate & Allie for two reasons:

  1. the teen girls on that show had an episode where they created a fictitious love interest for someone, and said that he was dying of consumption. The punch line was “it’s only a matter of time before I’m completely consumed.”

  2. the youngest kid showed up on Oz as one of the resident racist’s sons, and it shocked me when he did full frontal.

  1. Also Allison Smith, who played one of the daughters, later appeared as Mallory O’Brien (daughter of Leo McGarry) on The West Wing.

Wow, I would not have expected him to still be alive. He was also on a horrible 70s show called Holmes and YoYo.

And a terrible sequel/reboot of The Munsters (which somehow got three seasons?!?)

But also various episodes of Star Trek (DS9, Voyager and Enterprise, plus films ST IV and ST VI)) and Babylon 5, whose casts he is also slowly outliving. At 86 he seems to be slowing down workwise, so maybe one for next year’s lists.

I saw him in a play version of Cory Ten Boom’s holocaust survival story play. He played the Dad, one of the great heroes of WW2. Hid numerous Jews in his house behind walls and all of them survived(He died in the war due to age).

When his hiding scheme was discovered, the Nazis told him since he was bout 80, they would let him go if he promised not to take anyone. His daughter said he told them, “I am taking the next person that comes to my door.”

Dolores Huerta, influential labor leader, feminist and civil rights icon, dies at 96

Dolores Huerta, who co-founded the United Farm Workers union to improve working conditions in the nation’s fruit and vegetable fields and coined the phrase “Sí, se puede!” that became a widespread rallying cry, has died. She was 96…

This year, Huerta sent shockwaves through the Latino community when she revealed that she was sexually abused in the 1960s by the farmworker movement’s co-founder, César Chavez, leading to the birth of two children, a secret she kept for 60 years and long after he died.

She had 13 children.

I remember that show. I loved it, but I was six at the time.

His wheelchair use is due to aging and recovery from foot surgery. However, that surgery was a few years ago and he is still seen being pushed around in a wheelchair by his husband. At 89, recovery can’t be easy.

Barbara Barrie has died at 95.

I was 10 and although I gave it a chance, I think I knew, even at that age, that its days were numbered.

She was also Barney Miller’s wife for the first two seasons of the show.

mmm

I remember enjoying her as the mom in a televised stage production of Barefoot in the Park with Richard Thomas and I can’t remember her name but I can see her face in my mind.

ETA - it’s Bess Armstrong, it was on a TeeVee program called, “Standing Room Only,” that ran from 1976 - 1986, apparently. I just remember Barefoot.

Just found it on IMdB.

Elke Sommer has died at 85.

She has been on my Twilight Zone themed list for several years. Of course she dies the year I didn’t get my list submitted.

AFAIK, she was never in The Twilight Zone. She may have been in another movie that shared a title or character name with a The Twilight Zone episode.

That happened to me with Mary Travers and Dick Dale.
